Lying in bed, he contemplated these new feelings he was having. They plagued him every day now. No amount of scientific analysis could provide him with an answer and it pained him greatly. Science had always been the one thing that was unchangeable, forever constant. The earth went around the sun due to the force of gravity, the cells in the body communicated with electrical impulses to maintain homeostasis, and the bus that drove him to school each day combusted oil into usable energy to propel it forward. Everything in his life was science... except this. There was no rational explanation for why she kept popping up into his head. After all, she had been so rude to him, mocking his every movement. Why, then, did he still feel this way? It made no sense, and he was sure any outsider would say the same. Still, he couldn't push the girl out of his mind. Every thought somehow drifted towards her beautiful smile, the way her soft, blonde hair fell gently over her shoulders. Sometimes during class, he would zone out thinking of the girl next to him, not daring to look over, yet still focusing on her out of the corner of his eye. He used to be so active in school, arguing with her over every little thing, but now it just felt... unnatural. He wanted to argue with her; there was no way he would let her best him. Every time, though, something stopped him. He had no idea why or how, but something did. He would just stand there gaping against his will. What was happening to him? Jimmy sighed, unsatisfied with his explanation, yet lacking a better one. All he could think of was that somehow, through an act as crazy as divine intervention, he, James Isaac Neutron, boy genius, man of science, had fallen in love.
