A teeny tiny Defiance drabble/one-shot to try to get me writing again :)

Obviously I don't own anything, hope you enjoy, feel free to let me know thoughts. x

She knows she's probably dreaming. Or maybe she's dead. Maye she's lying in a room somewhere hallucinating and none of this is real, that would almost make more sense than the craziness of her life.

The last thing she remembers is her father's face, rough and lined but still not so different from the first time she saw him all those years ago. She remembers little of her life before Nolan found her, the parts she did remember seemed to be the kinds of memories you want to forget.

She'd never felt comfortable around people, always feeling like an outsider no matter where she went or who she was with, and this was okay, as long as she had Nolan. She meant it when she called him an idiot, he WAS an idiot, but he was also home and safety and everything that really mattered. When he decided they would stay in this town, she was apprehensive, people in general could not be trusted. Nolan may have been an idiot but he was also right, these people were brave and worth fighting for.

So much had happened in the last year, in her dream-like state Irisa couldn't tell how much of what she remembered was real. She remembered that the world seemed to be shaking apart, but she wasn't afraid. Nolan was here and she knew she was safe in his arms. Outside her bubble of safety she felt the darkness of reality threatening to invade. There was a heavy pain in her chest, like a chunk of her heart was gone and she didn't want to know why, didn't want to think about anything but the safety of her father's arms.

Running away from reality she sank again into blissful darkness.
