A/N: Just a little thing that popped into my head about Galinda growing up. I have plenty of ideas to continue, but I may just leave this as a oneshot if no one thinks it's worth continuing. All criticisms and kindnesses are gratefully accepted; let me know if you want me to continue!
The sheets felt as cold as the world was cruel, she though as she lay curled up in a ball on her luxurious king sized bed. Having nice things was one of the advantages of being of the Upper Uplands. Most ten year olds were still in twin sized beds. Then again, she thought, she wasn't your average ten year old. She didn't really know how to classify herself. She didn't eat breakfast, or lunch, and almost always scrapped her dinner onto the floor for the family dog. That meant she was anorexic, right? But when she did eat, she ended up in front of the toilet, throwing it back up, so she was bulemic. Maybe she was just both.
"Oh Lurline!" She cursed to herself, retching. The hunger pains became unbearable practically whenever she did anything like physical labor that required the use of calories that she just didn't have. The pain though, no matter how bad, would always be worth it. You see, she was perfect. I know, hard to believe that perfection could really exist in a ten year old, but she was proof. She had stopped eating about a month ago, when Avaric spoke to Phannee, even with Galinda herself in the room! Not only was he speaking with her though, they were having a whole conversation! Sure, he was just a stupiud, prepubescent boy, but it still hurt.
Galinda had decided then that if she were prettier, no boy would ever pay any girl attention except for her. Her hair was styled every morning, she was one of the only girls in class who wore make up and she used only yhe best, and her skin was flawless. Everyone else still wore training bras, she wore an a-cup. Being the richest family in town, her style was unriveled. The only way that she could possibly become prettier, would be if she were skinnier.
The pain was intense, due to the carrying around of shopping bags all day. But this pain meant that she could fit into those clothes she bought. It was a good pain really, knowing that her body was in its completely natural state; empty and pure. She silenetly vowed to herself that after the elemntary school graduation in another month or so, she would go back to eating normally. As it was, she went for a few more minutes before sneaking down to the kitchen to munch on some negative calorie broccoli. She absolutely, positivley loathed the flavor, but, just like everything else, it was worth it.
