I knew he was gifted in that way.

But really, everyone here has to be. It's not like there's a repair shop on every corner.

Even at the spaceports, cost is too big a factor for most.

So everyone knows how to fix everything. It's a necessity.

And it's obvious the droid needs repaired.

So between my house and his speeder, he cobbled up the parts to do so.

No big deal, right? Nothing special. Just life on Tatooine.

But did it have to be that droid?

And did he have to have that hair?

And have that look in his eyes?

Because right now, I don't see him. I see his father when we first found him. His father, who would grow to be my friend. My friend who should still be here, but for betrayal.

And I'm scared of a repeat performance.

But I swallow my fear because there's no other choice, really, and when he shrugs off my compliment, it feels so different from Anakin that I smile.

Because as much déjà vu as I have right now, he's not his father.

Despite the droid and the hair and the skills, he's not.

And hope springs eternal.
