Life out of Balance in a Galaxy Far, Far Away

Walking through the streets of Coruscant

Dreaming of the Golden Age gone

I can't afford not to be careful

Must keep my guard up

Men in white patrol the streets

Night and Day again and again

Intimidating and arresting citizens

Whether they're guilty

Or innocent

Taking them in to be butchered

Or Force-choked by a man in black

Who cares nothing for life

An Empire that uses force of arms

To keep the so-called peace and order

No regard for equality or freedom

Is in their flesh and blood

A supreme Emperor

Rules with an iron fist

And does not allow any alien

To have a privilege enjoyed by man

Life forms rotting in under-levels

Others toiling for lazy butchers

With whips and boiling hot oil

Night and Day

Tiny craft that roar like lions

With the roars more high-pitched

Soar through space and air

And destroy all foes through force of numbers

Not caring even for each other

And massive destroyers

Bombard innocent cities and planets

With no more regard than anyone else

Who serves this blasted Empire

They claim to bring peace and order

But all they bring is war and chaos

The Jedi could have prevented this

But they were too complacent

Basking in false security

They never foresaw their downfall

Now everywhere

Is filth and disorder

Homeless aliens

Lost in a sea

Of bigoted humans

Reluctantly working

For the men's base desires

Human officers

Fearing failure and punishment

Particularly when Darth Vader

Is nearby

Stromtroopers without minds

Consciences or hearts

Obeying orders to kill and destroy

And doing nothing else

Not even camaraderie

Bonds them like men anymore

Whole families

And groups of friends

Terrified of speaking their minds

When there's no freedom of speech

Unless they wholly agree

With the base Imperial viewpoint

That the Empire is righteous

And the Jedi are traitors

And that aliens can't be trusted

Them being so inferior

To humans

Male humans

Such human folks

Get fat and rich

Off the sufferings

Of those poor people

And thrive from the wealth and power

Of a government that favors the rich

And shows no quarter

To the disagreeable dissidents

Blasters and lasers

Cannons and bombs

Death by war

Death by execution

Death by accidents

Death by vanishings

Social programs too

Have been abolished

In favor of the most massive

Military buildup ever

Gratuitous and ludicrous

In its size and form

This is the norm.

Now the Jedi have returned

And destroyed the Emperor

The Empire has been weakened

And a New Republic is born

But can it ever truly

Go back to what it was

No I don't think so

For no matter how many times

Luke Skywalker righteously insists

That his father Darth Vader

Is the savior of the galaxy

Anakin Skywalker

Can never truly atone

For his crimes and sins

Whatever his family may say

To the contrary

The Empire continues

And its New Order

Will never truly die

And I know the war is far from over

Because a truthful Grand Admiral

Of the Empire said so

And this lack of balance

To the Force and the universe

Shall endure until

The end of all things

That is the new norm.
