"So only Remus Lupin will come?"
Violet Evans stood in the doorway, summery dressed.
"Yes", Lily said. "Theresa couldn't come."
"Why isn't James coming?" Violet put on big sunglasses, stroked her daughter's cheek.
"His mother is ill."
"Oh… Have fun now, darling."
Violet drove off. Lily was all alone.
She paced around the house. Upstairs, down again. Glared at herself in mirrors, windows.
First, when he finally arrived, they just stared at each other.
"I have ice-cream!"
Two bowls of chocolate ice-cream.
"I never asked James and Theresa to come…"
Remus' foot tripped on Lily's under the kitchen table.
