Shawn Hickenbottom had a twenty-five year old daughter. She was getting married. To John Cena. Goes along with song "I Loved Her First" by Heartland. John Cena/OC
Shawn's POV
My first girl, Catlyn Marie Hickenbottom was a Raw writer. She was close with everyone. But, today she's getting married to a guy she met two years before. I went to talk to her before the wedding. She was looking at herself in the mirror when she saw me watching her from the doorway. She smiled a beautiful smile and said, "hi daddy." I was tearing up slightly. "Daddy, don't cry." I walked up behind her. She turned to face me.
I said, "my little girl's getting married. I have a good excuse." She laughed and hugged me. I hugged her back and said, "I wish your mom could be here for this." She said something that made me smile.
"She's watching from heaven daddy. Would she be happy?"
"Yeah. She would be. John's a great guy. I see how you two look at each other."
She sniffed and said, "dad. Please."
I laughed and said, "okay. Let's go darlin'."
We met up with her bridesmaids, Mickie and Maria. Boys in the back knew them as the 'fearsome threesome'. Every show, house show or live show, they always pulled at least one prank. Harmless though. She linked her arm with mine and asked, "ready dad?" I nodded and she smiled. She had opted for no veil. Her hair was partially up. It was curled beautifully. She had a tiara borrowed from Stephanie in it. She barely had any make-up on. When I was walking her down the aisle, I noticed John's expression. It was of utter love.
I handed her to him. I kissed her cheek softly and said, "good luck baby girl."
"I love you dad,"she replied softly. Throughout the ceremony, I couldn't help but think back to her childhood. She grew up on the road with me. She loved it. Soon after, the ceremony was over. They were pronounced as man and wife.
At the reception, I had to make a toast. I said, "Catlyn is my first baby girl. She grew up on the road with me. She grew up fast, too fast I think. She found love with a good guy. Well, now a good guy. (People laugh.) John used to be what people call a player. My baby girl changed that. And now they are married. At first, I was worried about her. Now, I see the love they share. And I know it's going to last. John, take care of her. Catlyn, I love you. To the new happy couple." People raised their glasses and cheered.
Soon, Catlyn and me had to share a father-daughter dance. The song was "I Loved Her First" by Heartland. It fit. While we were dancing, she said, "thank you daddy."
"For what?"
"Everything."
"Don't thank me hun." She smiled up at me with adoration. He kissed her cheek when the dance was over. After a while, Catlyn and John left for their honeymoon. I let a tear slip, letting go of my girl.
The End
