Kate sat there, on the soft sand. She traced designs in the sand while she thought, stupid Juliet. Who does she think she is? She threw the remaining sand in her hand out to the ocean.
"Something wrong, Freckles?" She hear Sawyer's annoying voice behind her.
"Go away, James." She said, throwing more sand out to the ocean. She felt him next to her and put a hand on her shoulder. She pulled away and got up.
"Freckles..." Sawyer started to say.
"Shut up, James." Kate said through gritted teeth. Sawyer sighed and walked away. Kate knew she was being antisocial and that it probably wasn't the best idea, but she didn't care. All she wanted was to be alone. She walked further down the beach, just far enough away from the camp to take a swim. She pulled off her clothing and dove in. The water was cold, but it felt good. She pushed back her wet hair and dove under again. When she got up to the surface the sobs came. Then the tears. She dove under again to wash away the tears and silent her sobs. She came up for the last time and looked at the shore, unable to comprehend what she saw. There they were. The slut that had ruined her chance with Jack on the island. Her blond hair covered Jack's face as they kissed. Kate turned away and splashed more water onto her face. She then got out of the water, right in front of them. She started to walk towards her clothes.
"Kate..." Jack started to say. Kate glared at him while she picked up her clothes and began dressing. Kate could swear she saw a smirk on Juliet's face. That triggered something in Kate that Jack had never seen before, but knew she was capable of. She tackled Juliet and started to crush her windpipe. Juliet flipped Kate over and started to do the same. Kate hit her with a hard elbow and had Juliet on the ground again. Kate had an elbow to her throat now, and it was obvious she wasn't going to let her go.
"Kate! Kate! Knock it off!" Jack yelled. But before Kate got pulled off, she hit Juliet's pretty face, hard with her elbow. Jack pulled Kate off Juliet and rushed to Juliet's side. Kate shook her head and wiped the blood from her mouth. She walked back to camp, satisfied with herself. She's wanted to do that for as long as she could remember. She wasn't a princess, this wasn't a fairy tale. No one could catch her now.
