Law and Order
His mother loved him, or at least he likes to tell himself. He knows that she died cursing his existence, but he also knows that, still, she was his mother.
Mothers are supposed to love. That's their job, after all, and for six years that was the law by which Gaara lived.
Nobody broke the law. They weren't allowed to.
Yashamaru didn't break the law. "Your mother loved you very, very much," He says sometimes.
Or at least, he used to say that. He's dead now. He broke the law.
"I never loved you," he said, "your mother never loved you either. She died hating you…and I, I hate you too."
People who break the law are prosecuted; that's the policy in Sunagakure. So, really, he had to kill Yashamaru.
Yashamaru broke the law, and he paid with his life.
And every time Gaara kills someone, he reminds himself that they probably broke a law somewhere too.
He hopes, in a sick sort of way, that somewhere out there, there is another child whose mother doesn't love him.
This is how he justifies killing.
This is his law now.
Author's Notes: I don't really think Gaara started out as a bad kid. He was neglected and hated by everybody. Don't you think, maybe he could have grown to be a normal child? If only those people left him alone...
