Loren blake sat at his desk, gazing outside of the window. The moonlight shone through the window lighting the room slightly. He turned from the window and lit a match, lighting a candle that was the next to a picture frame. He pushed his hand through his short black hair. Sighing he focussed his eyes on the picture before him. He was laughing in the photo. He couldn't even remember the last time he had done that. He'd just had sex with a student, the aim being evil not good. He gazed at the picture again. A brunette stood next to him. No tattoo. Obviously human. She was smiling, gazing into the eyes every women wanted to gaze into. Holly. He would always remember her name. He stroked the picture. Goodbye. He remembered her last words. It was an accident. A bite too hard. He held on for too long. He remembered the forgiveness in her eyes as she died. A forgiveness he didn't understand, he was a monster. Zoey Redbird felt so.
Suddenly he stopped thinking. He felt the sharp pang of Zoey's pain. He had to go look for her. This time he would not let fear get the better of him. This time his bite would not kill the one he loved.
