Yu-Gi-Oh Special
"The Gilded Cage"
by
The Duelist of the Rose
-------------------------------------------------------
He stood alone, for three thousand years,
Verging on the brink of tears.
His chains were gold, as was his cage,
A prisoner from the Nameless Age.
--
His death already, he knew had come,
And time passed steady like the beating drum.
Yet still his soul, ached for more,
Than what the deepening darkness bore.
--
And within the glittering pieces caged,
He recalled the games and campaigns he waged.
Yet strangely his family he could not recall,
Only a great, wide empty hall.
--
His mind did hurt, his memories to sear,
And soon thinking back on the past brought fear.
So he did stop, thoughts to neglect,
And soon his past life he could not recollect.
--
With this, a future before his eyes sat dim,
No one could he guess, would come for him.
Yet ever he waited, wishing for more,
A chance to live, an opening door.
--
He might have gone mad, he might have gone bad,
But mostly he just grew all the more sad.
With nothing to think of, and nothing to say
No Light to lead him 'round the right way.
--
And there forever he would have stayed,
To seal the Darkness, his Soul he'd payed.
But his reward was coming, very soon,
And his power would shine like the light of the moon.
--
The placement of a piece brought a second chance,
And his view of the future would be more than a glance.
For then a boy, smaller than he,
Met him soul to soul, and filled him with glee!
--
At once, the prisoner felt freed from his bonds,
Freedom as sweet as the water from ponds.
And then he found himself on the inside, looking out,
Within a body, gazing 'round about.
--
The first thing he said was: "Thanks for coming, Ushio."
Thus began the epic tale of Yu-Gi-Oh!
