Chapter One: Explosive Rocks and Tall Falls

*Death Game Arena, MC's PoV*

The others have all been logged out or teleported back to GGO. The only two people remaining are Me and Itaski. As he also gets logged out/teleported he says, "Jorge, may we meet again someday, under better conditions." A few seconds later, I too am logged out/teleported with the same white effect. I close my eyes at the brightness of it. Feeling weightless, I open my eyes only to see that I'm in free fall. The first thing that comes to mind is also the first thing I happen to say. "OH SWEET MERCIFUL BUDDHA!" After that little outburst, I take note of the best potential spot that I could 'try' to 'land'. My options were very few being, a clearing in a scraggly forest, someone's yard, or a snow bank. Spreading out my arms and legs to hopefully slow my decent, I try to aim for the snow bank the best I can. Which means, not very well, cause I have to way to aim.

As the ground rushes to meet me, I realize, it's not a snow bank. Its a snow HILL. I punch through the top of the snow hill and out the otherside, hitting a tree and draining one hundred of my Hp. The other three thousand, four hundred and twenty six remain safe, thankfully. As I go to open the menu, I realize my arm is dislocated, and the icon above my Hp bar proves it as well. Using the tree that I hit, I put my arm back in its socket and open the Menus. Opening the Map section, I see it reads, 'Town of Patch'. "What? is this some kind of glitch? No. It shows my current position and a proper name. Not random gibberish associated with glitches." I think out loud, then It hits me. Franticly I open the friend list to find it blank except for one name. Karen, my Arfa-sys. I press the Call button, hoping that she answers. "Master?!" I hear. 'She answered the call, thank goodness'. "Karen, listen carefully. I want you to open your map and tell me where it says you are. It's very important." There's a brief pause, I can hear her opening the map, followed by a roar. The call ends, the roar still plays in my ears. Pressing the track button next to the message and call buttons, a black line appears, leading to Karen's location. I make the motion for my Cyber MTX 2+ to appear and take off running, following the line. Half an hour passes as I follow the black line through the forest. The first thing I find is her AMR Tiamat with its scope crushed and barrel bent. I look around seeing if there's any of her other gear laying around. All I find are puncture marks littering the ground, some spent bullet casings, explosive residue, boot prints, and most worrying a large black leg. I decide to follow the tracks.

The tracks lead my to a large cave opening guarded by what could only be described as nightmare fuel. Spiders the size of a great dane, pitch black with white armor plates, and eight deep crimson red eyes. There's only two and they are close together, and a lightbulb goes off in my head. I pull out my plasma grenade, frag grenade, and my favorite, the smoke grenade. Just to make sure that my plan would work, I aim at one of the spiders to check its lvl. 'lvl 30? this is gonna be easy. Im fifty six levels above these guys.' I think to myself. Tossing the smoke grenade first, I wait for them to be blinded before I throw both the frag and plasma grenade at them. The frag shreds the left one and the plasma vaporises the one on the right. four thousand xp is awarded along with 'Poison sack', two of them, and ten 'Grimm Plate'. I think nothing of it and continue into the cave. The inside of the cave is much bigger than the entrance would make it seem. The entirety of the cave as I explore it, killing whatever spider that appears, is smooth, not slick smooth, but not un smooth, like an orange. As I approach the final chamber, I pick up the sounds of a struggle, and Karen. That sets me in motion, activating the Meta Optical Camoflauge, I enter the chamber.

The room is six times the size of the rest of the cave. On the far wall, bound, is Karen. In front of her is a spider three times the size of the others, maybe bigger. Training my gun on the thing, it comes up as level 73, and three health bars appear below its name. "Thu-Grax, Weaver of Shadows." I read aloud. 'Boss class, heavily armored, unknown tactics, more than likely poisonous, potentially summons help. Best strategy? Open with all explosives, then test stat resistance while Run n Gun.' My strategy set, I pull out all three of my explosive charges (Ion grenade, Frag grenade, and Plasma grenade) and tie them together before thumbing the activation button on the plasma and throw the highly explosive bundle. It lands right where I want it to, right next to one of its front legs. The charge goes off, shaking the ground and getting the things attention. Its first bar goes down ten percent. Palming an Incendiary throwing knife, I hurl it at the boss, hitting it in one of its eyes, and lighting it on fire. Pissed and on fire, the boss charges me in an attempt to spear me on one of its right front legs. I dodge the attempt and palm the other five knives while I run around it. I throw each knife at its center mass, keeping it aflame and draining the first bar even faster. Pulling my gun from my back, I fire the AP rounds before dodging out of the way of a poison glob it launched at me. The first bar disappears and Thu-Grax summons four level ten spiders for me to fight as well as himself. A three round burst each kills all four of them, I then turn my attention back to the boss, Only to find him next to Karen, she struggles to get away but it's to no avail. He bites her arm, causing her to scream in pain as poison rushes through her veins. The boss, then pulls her from the wall, and faces me. It seemed to grin at my rage. I eject the spent magazine from my gun and I pull out a different ammo type. 7.62x 51mm Incendiary/HE round mix, and slide the new magazine of ammo in. I pull back the charging lever and make the come at me gesture. Thu-Grax doesnt let me down. I blow off his front legs as he gets closer, stunning him. Using this moment, I get in close and hold onto his head with my legs while I empty my gun into him. the bullets rip through flesh and bone at such a close range, leaving a black and white mess. He attempts to buck me off as I reload and continue the onslaught. His two remaining hp bars disappear at a rapid pace from my onslaught, before disappearing. Thu-Grax collapses, dead.

I rush over to Karen, and examine the bite wound. It's bleeding bad, the cloth around is completely shredded, the skin around it is a nasty shade of blue and grey. Her breathing is light and rapid, skin is extremely pale compared to its usually healthy tan. I need to get her out of here, cold caves don't do jack shit for healing. Storing my gun, I pick her up and carry her out, only to meet a tanned, blond, purple eyes, muscled man, wearing light brown cargo shorts, a matching vest, a yellow shirt, sandals, and a confused expression. He says, "Someone did my job, yet no one is stupid enough to approach a nest. Except Huntsmen..." He stops when he sees Karen on my back. "You speak Common?" I nod my head yes, he then says, "Follow me, quickly we probably don't have much time." And he sets off, I rush to keep up, keeping hold of my partner, while following him closely.
