She opened her door and got inside. She leaned against the wall and sighed. She could still feel his taste on her lips. She thought about the moment they shared and shook her head.
Kim : to herself You're really an idiot.
She wondered what the hell went through her mind when she kissed him. She knew very well he was engaged. What was her name again ? Oh yes, Wendy. He talked about her a couple of times. One of these times was about dirty pictures on his phone. She remembered the awkwardness she felt back then. She left the wall. She thought she could use a drink but she already had a beer with Ruzek. Her mind went back to him. She saw again his focused face while he was trying to remember the monks story. He didn't notice she was just staring at him almost in adoration. She felt like a foolish school girl. She went in the kitchen and prepared herself some tea. She needed to calm down before she went to sleep. She couldn't believe she litteraly ran away from him after the kiss. On the other hand, what else could have happened ? It was too embarrassing ! He probably thought she was desperate. She drank a sip and a thought hit her mind. He kissed her back. He didn't push her away. He didn't fight it. He actually kissed her back. It had to mean something. A smile spread on her face. She took another sip. No, it wasn't right. She wasn't some homewrecker. Never was and never will be. She leaned her head back and finished the cup of tea. He's not married yet, a voice in her head whispered. She ignored it and put the cup in the sink. She went to her bedroom and prepared herself to sleep. She layed under the sheets and thought that she felt lonely there. Of course she didn't think about hotties like Ian Somerhalder or Channing Tatum, no not even ! The one and only Adam Ruzek. She blushed with her thoughts. She turned off the lights and tried to fall asleep.
Ruzek
He was in his car for the past ten minutes. He didn't dare to go home to Wendy.
Not after what happened. How could I cheat on my fiancée like that ? He wondered. He didn't understand how he ended up in this situation. Then he felt like slapping himself. Obviously he knew what happened ! He led Burgess on with wrong signals. He felt guilty because he was hurting both women. Well, just one at the moment because Wendy didn't know yet. Could he tell her ? He left the car and finally went in.
Wendy : Hey, where have you been ?
Adam : Um, I went for a drink with Alvin. Sorry I didn't tell you.
Wendy : Oh, it's fine. I like him.
Adam felt bad for lying and putting his partner into it. He looked at Wendy. This is the woman you love and is about to marry, he thought. It sounded wrong all of the sudden.
Wendy : Adam ?
Adam : Sorry, you were saying ?
Wendy : I was asking about your day.
Adam : Oh, it went fine.
Wendy : she smiled Always the same answer.
Adam : Yeah he yawned I'm tired.
Wendy : Let's go to bed then.
A little while later, they were laying near each other. It was very silent, you could almost hear a fly passing by. She didn't know what was going on but she got worried. She touched his arm and he turned his head to look at her. She leaned in and kissed his lips. He kissed back but then a flashback came in his mind. He felt Kim's lips on his again. They were soft and warm. He remembered the shivers going down his spine. He couldn't help to want more. He pulled away and saw Wendy. Guilt rushed in him.
Wendy : Goodnight she turned on her side away from him
Adam : Night.
He stayed on his back. The truth hit him hard. I am attracted to Kim Burgess, he realized. He didn't want to think more about it. He closed his eyes and tried to fall asleep.
