Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha. End of story. Well.. not really, I haven't even started this FAN fiction yet so technically it hasn't finished. But I never owned Inuyasha to begin with so yeah... on with the story!
AN- So yeah, the pole is useless now... I already decided on the new story whether you like it or not. So I'll be writing this in the middle of a hurricane and watching "Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl" again for the hundredth time. Of course, this will have a twist.
Life was simple. Well.. at least for me. I'm Kagome Higurashi, a local bartender at a small tavern at the edge of town, by the port. I get up, wash, dress then head to work. Life was simple.. once I'm out of the house.
My Mother and Sister don't agree with the way I live, and they make it known every chance they get. Kikyo and Mother believe a debutant girl such as myself doesn't belong in such a common place, working for money I don't even need. But I enjoy it, I meet new people and I get away from the stupid bastards at the manor.
Father was the Governor of Port Royal, a respectable man with a gorgeous wife, two beautiful daughters, and an intelligent son. He was just and kind to everyone and had a certain air about him that called for order. Mother is his wife and, incase of trouble, Governess. She commands respect with everything she does, her beauty a deadly one. Mother is no fool, and not as easily tricked at Father. She sees and knows all, and like a siren, lures many into her trap. There used to be many competitors.. but over the years they all vanished without a trace.
I was raised to be a debutant, "my beauty outshines my mother's by leaps and bounds, but I am no match for Kikyo" is often remarked by high standing men and women. My archery skills are almost perfect, but I am no where near the level of my slightly older sister Kikyo's. She is a prodigy, perfect in every way that I am not. Where I am tomboyish, Kikyo is a lady. Where I am corse, Kikyo is smooth. My speech is no where near as elegant as Kikyo's. My parent's love us both, but it is no secret they dote on my elder sister more than I. And for that, I am grateful. Because while they focus on her perfection, I can get away with things I know they would never approve of.
Souta and I are very close, much more than either of us are to Perfect Kikyo. She feels as if she's better than us, even if she was born only minutes before I. Souta is thirteen, while Kikyo and I are twenty. Though far apart in age and the many differences in our lessons, my little brother and I are almost one and the same. We both have a love for the sea, but only my brother gets to go out to sea. I was forbidden to leave port, due to an incident many many years ago...
Once, when I was seven, My father took me out on a large vessel. One of the British Armada's, it was a very nice ship. I spent most of my time standing on the bow, singing softly to myself. The crew left me alone, believing it was bad luck for a woman to be on board. But that day, I noticed something floating in the water... it was an umbrella. I pointed to it and alert the others, soon flaming wreckage could be seen through the fog. The crew took a long boat to search for survivors, none were found. The quarter master spoke the word that no one else dared to say, though we all knew it was true, "Pirates"
After that I never went to sea again. But once I was fifteen, I started working at the tavern, saving money for the day I could leave Port Royal and start a new elsewhere. Somewhere far far away from my sister and her perfection.
