Disclaimer : I do not own Inuyasha and Kikyo but the poetry is mine
KEEPING VIGIL
After Kikyo was brought back from the dead, she still loved Inuyasha the same way as before, yet! She refused to accept it and acted as if she hated him. But inside, she knew she loved him still, even surviving on the souls of the dead and with vengeance penetrated into her very body, there were still those feelings. But she decided to complete her duty, she was determined not to fail a second time due to some deeply harboured feelings and so she kept her secrets.
With broken illusions of worldly bliss,
I so dearly wish to be a pile of ashes,
The way my heart is
The lines echoed though her mind. She walked in a dead coma. She did not have any selfish wishes, the glimmer of life gone out of her and so was the human feelings of want and desire
But ironically against my wishes,
I'm walking, talking
Alive! Yet its not a life that I'm living
Every secong I feel it escaping
Why! The illusions inside my head
Because I'm a living corpse! I'm undead
"Inuyasha!" She whispered as he headed ahead with his friends after killing the dark priestess Tsubaki. His keen hearing picked up the sound of her voice. He instantly turned back but she hid behind a tree and he thought he'd imagined it. "Tsubaki was obsessed with possessing the sacred jewel as I am obsessed ….. with you." She whispered after he was gone.
No crude reflections on my face,
No scars on the surface,
Doesn't mean I'm not in pain
There's a smile on my face!
Its all in vain!
I'm faking it all!
But I won't forfeit
Till the end I'll wait
But I won't betray your name,
I might be killed by this pain
But I won't forfeit this game
She stood there at the base of mount hakurei and Naraku had discarded his human heart so that he could kill her for her purification powers were dangerous to him. She looked him in the face of death. She was going to die yet again. Naraku shot her through the shoulder with one of his tentacles and she fell down in a river of miasma and yet! She could not die, without seeing him one last time. He was her salvation. She dragged on with her partially healed body.
I'll continue with whatever is left inside
Everything of that nothing that keeps me alive.
To everyone it was nothing, they could not see. "How longer will you wander the earth Kikyo?" that's what Kaede had said. That nothing was her everything. The memories she had of the the time spent with him. They didn't let her die.
They were two worlds apart. She belonged to the dead and she knew she would return where she belonged, one day. So it was better to remember her place. 'To die is to live! To live is to die!' She remembered the old Japanese song
I really don't have to work for myself to repair
Because what I'll recreate will be a shadow of despair
But if you can resurrect me for certain
I'll be ready for death yet again.
She walked on to the final battle, after which she would finally rest in peace
