Dan woke up with the sun practically blinding him the moment he sat up. Groaning softly, he let his mind process the date. Valentine 's Day. It was one of his least favorite days of the year. Why? Because everywhere he looked, there were couples showing their affection and it was just a sharp reminder that he didn't have anyone to actually call his own.
Shaking his head, he pushed himself out of bed and started out of his room. He was only wearing shorts with his boxers showing over the top. It was too early in the morning to try and look good and Phil was used to Dan's morning processing. The slightly shorter male had always been a bit more of a morning person.
When Dan finally made it into the kitchen, he noticed that Phil was nowhere to be found. Wasn't he typically up at this time? His brows furrowed as he thought before his chocolate colored eyes noticed a little note attached to the front of the fridge.
Went to the store to pick up something! Be back soon
-Phil
Now what on earth could he be getting from the store this early? This left Dan to his silent musings as he made himself some tea before he curled up on the couch to wait for Phil. It didn't take long for him to finish his tea and by that time, he was already drifting back off to sleep. He barely noticed when the front door opened.
Phil let a soft smile cross his features as he strolled toward the nearly unconscious brown haired man on the couch. He was careful to be quite when walking only to make a loud noise that startled the taller one from his almost sleep-like state. Dan let a soft noise of displeasure escape him as he muttered. "Phiiiiil." He held out the word for a bit longer like a whine though it was only halfhearted.
His whine was almost instantly cut off when Phil pulled out what was behind him back. Dan's face lit up like a child on Christmas eve getting the present they had always want. Basically launching himself off of the couch, he wrapped his arms around Phil with a thank you and then leaned back to let Phil see his beaming grin.
He hadn't even noticed the small note that was tied to the package of Maltesers that Phil had gotten from the store. When he released the ebony haired male to reach for the package, his face went blank only for a soft chuckle to escape him as his chocolate colored eyes moved back up to meet the sparkling blue of his flat mate's.
"Of course I will, Phil."
The note had read:
Will you be my valentine? (:
It was cheesy, but it was classic Phil and it brightened Dan's mood almost as much as the Maltesers had. Phil let his own lips curve into a brilliant smile as he leaned forward to kiss Dan on the cheek, leaving the taller man somewhat confused with a subtle hint of color rising to his already tanned skin. It took Dan a moment to even realize that his flat-mate had taken his Maltesers during the brief exchange.
"Hey! Those are mine." He stated with his bottom lip poking out in a pout.
The darker haired one of the duo let out another laugh as he backed away only to wind up in his bedroom doorway; offering a glance toward Dan that practically dared him to follow.
"They aren't yours unless you come and get them."
Dan let a smirk fall onto his lips as he took up the challenge in a heartbeat. Did Phil really think that would keep him from getting to his prize? Perhaps Valentine's day wasn't so bad after all…
