Prologue

Winnie Fosters house sat quiet and uninteresting as ever. The lawn was perfectly kept, the flower beds weedless and vibrant, and the black wrought iron gates stood tall blocking out the rest of Cutter Gap. Separating Winnie from the outside world, and the woods where she had fallen in love for the first and last time.

As she now sat by her window looking at the sun setting behind the woods, her thoughts wandered freely. She was lost in a daydream of and Jesse. She always thought of Jesse, there was never a moment when something didn't remind her of those three days, five years ago. Every moment with him was perfectly kept in the deepest corner of her soul, keeping her alive. Jesse lived in her giving her the hope and patience to live on and wait for him to come back to her. She loved him more than she did the night he left. Always ,she saw him in her dreams telling her to wait for him, he loved her. The thought put a flutter in her middle and an ache in her heart. She missed him.

Her arms were wrapped tightly around herself as she stood and moved across the room to a tall window over looking the forest.

"Jesse..." She breathed, "I'm waiting for you. Come back to me."

The room was quiet and nothing seemed to move outside her small world.

Sighing heavily, her head hung low, a tear slipping from one of her beautiful eyes, she put a hand to her face, allowing her tears to flow.

' Jesse!'She thought over and over.' Jesse. Jesse. Jesse!'

Her heart ached, leaving her chest feeling hollow but heavy.

She turned from the window and quietly slid under her bed covers. As she wiped her tears away and settled restlessly into the over stuffed feather bed. When her tears subsided she closed her eyes, "One more day Jesse, I'll drink the water and wait for you."
