Pairing: Ivan Braginsky x Yao Wang x Matthew Williams (Russia x China x Canada)

Summary: It had always been this way. Yao ruled the kitchen, and Ivan caused mischief in spite of it, and as always, it was Matthew who made peace of it all.

Warnings: None really, other than the mention of three males in a poly-amorous relationship.

Disclaimer: I don't own Hetalia or any related ideas. This is all just for fun and entertainment here.

A/N: Just a short drabble I wrote for the Ask Blog I run with two of my friends. I intend to write others like this in the future about this triad, but I figured I'd see how just one of them went first. This is the first thing I've ever posted here, so constructive feedback is definitely appreciated!

Yao ruled the kitchen. It didn't matter whether they were in his actual kitchen in Beijing, in Ivan's at his home in Moscow or even in Matthew's at his home in Ottawa. It was always Yao's kitchen. It had been since they'd begun their arrangement. Though he allowed Matthew in to assist with preparing meals, and at times let Ivan in - barring good behavior of course - it was and would always be Yao's kitchen.

"Because I make the best dinners, aru." Yao would explain every time Ivan complained about not being allowed in his own kitchen. "And you'll only make a mess."

Ivan was banned from the kitchen most evenings. When he wasn't cooking (the rare occasions that he was allowed free reign) he tended to enjoy acting as a distraction. Distractions ranged from talking to them to attempting to hug one or both of them from behind while they tried to work, to actually stealing ingredients; either eating them, or causing some sort of mischief with them.

"I am allowed to be in my own kitchen." Ivan would counter each time Yao tried to usher him out amidst Matt's pleas for them to get along. "Even if I am not cooking, I can be sitting here."

Though for Yao it was endlessly irritating, Matt didn't seem to mind very much. So often the Ivan that was seen by others outside of their little triad wasn't the same as the playful creature they saw here. Outside he was gruff, serious, acting in a manner specifically to scare others. Here the act was gone, so when Ivan opted to distract him with kisses to the neck all while using one hand to steal a piece of bacon meant for dinner, Matthew's protests were only halfhearted.

"We could always set him to helping with something," Matt would offer each time Ivan and Yao began to bicker. "Then you have your peace," He'd say to Yao. "And you have something to keep those hands busy, eh?" He'd tease at Ivan.

And so that was how their arrangement went. Yao ruled the kitchen, though his ruler ship was not without an enthusiastic Russian uprising. Ivan's rebellions weren't without a calming, Canadian suggestion for peace. And one way or another, dinner would be served: distractions, kisses, arguments and all.
