Summary: While waiting for Olivia to get ready for a formal event, Sterling gets an idea.
"Darling, are you done yet?" James Sterling called for the third time, adjusting the black jacket of his tuxedo.
"Just a second, dad!" Olivia replied from her room.
It was the same answer she had given the last two times and Sterling sighed. They were going to be late for the charity chess tournament to raise money for… some charitable cause, he couldn't remember. Shoving his hands in his pockets he looked down at his shoes. Without really realizing it he started bouncing on the balls of his feet.
"Olivia!"
"I'm almost done!" She sounded very annoyed and he decided it was best not to keep pestering her.
Sighing again Sterling glanced around the living room. He caught a glimpse of his reflection in the mirror next to the coat rack. I do look good in a tux, he thought. An idea hit him and moved to get a better view of the mirror. Standing so his left side faced the mirror he adjusted his jacket one more time. Looking at his reflection he said, with a dramatic flair, "Sterling. James Sterling." He felt so much like a super spy it made him grin.
And then the happy moment shattered.
"You did not just do that."
Sterling spun around and found Olivia looking incredulously at him, arms folded across her chest. "Uh…" He wasn't exactly sure what to say that would explain what he was doing.
"Just, please, don't do that in front of other people," she said, holding up hand. As much as she loved her dad, there were things that he did that were embarrassing, like pretending to be James Bond.
There was a long and awkward silence.
"You look lovely, darling, shall we go now?" Sterling suggested, talking quickly. He hoped she would follow his lead and forget what had just happened; it would make things so much easier.
Olivia smiled broadly and nodded. "Let's go, we're going to be late." Her dad looked relieved, making her grin wider. Stepping towards him he slipped her arm through her dad's and the two of them headed for the door. Unable to help herself she added, "You'd make a pretty good 007 though."
The idea for this little story hit me while watching the end of the Three Strikes Job and I couldn't help myself. I have to say, I loved the Queen's Gambit Job and that because of Olivia, we get to see a different side of Sterling.
At the moment I have a one shot and a multi chapter planned out involving those two, but I'll wrap up the Princess Job first. That one's almost done, by the way. I'm hoping to finish it by the end of next week.
This took about 1 hour 15 minutes to finish while watching Castle.
Thanks so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed it! Constructive criticism, critiques, reviews, and favorites are most welcome!
Disclaimer: I don't own Leverage, though that would be awesome. I also don't own James Bond in case you were wondering.
