Author's Note: Thought I'd mention, that this story takes place roughly around the time the events of chapters 22 through 24 of Prerugrats takes place where Fan Fiction is concerned. So if you haven't read that story, in particular, the chapters mentioned, I advise you to check that out first. If you've already checked it out though, or don't care, then by all means, please continue reading, and, I hope you enjoy!
Practice Makes Perfect
Summary: Takes place during season 5 of Rugrats, post 'The Family Tree,' and prior to the events of 'The Rugrats Movie.' After attending a big brother big sister class, Tommy decides he'd better practice being a big brother, so he enlists the other babies, along with Emma from the episode, 'He Saw, She Saw,' who comes over for a playdate, to dress and act like baby-babies, so he can practice. Will his practice session be successful? Idea was given to me by Boris Yeltsin.
Disclaimer: I do not own the original Rugrats characters, they're the property of their original creaters. I only own any OC's you don't recognize, while Peter is owned by TCKing12.
Didi was six months pregnant with what she thought would be her baby girl Trixi, and by this point in the pregnancy, she, along with Stu were attending Lamars classes, while Lou went to his one and only grandparent class at the hospital, before dropping out. However, they weren't the only ones venturing into this educational territory, as they saw to making room for a new member of the family. Tommy, was also going to the standard big brother big sister classes, which he and his friends called big brother school, a special class that many first time siblings attend, to learn about what to expect with a new sibling coming into the family, and getting a chance, to make fun arts and craft projects, as gifts to give to their parents, and most importantly, the little brother or sister when they entered the world. On this particular day however, Didi awoke, not feeling well, as she typically suffered from morning sickness. The babies couldn't understand what was so sickening about the morning, but regardless, Peter showed up and took Tommy to the class on this particular day. He had also taken him to his first class, so he wasn't unfamiliar with the process, and it was something the two boys enjoyed doing together.
"Good morning Tommy and Peter." Nurse Tina said, as they entered the classroom at the hospital, and took their seats.
"Good morning Tina. Yeah, Tommy's mom isn't feeling well, so I brought him today." Peter said.
"Well, that's okay. I'm glad Tommy could join us." Tina said, as the two adults made small talk, while the rest of the kids and their parents arrived for the class.
On this particular day however, two siblings joined the class for the first time, but they were kids Tommy had previously met at the park. A little girl with light brown hair pulled back in two pigtails, wearing a blue shirt, pink jumper shorts, white ankle socks and black shoes sat down next to Tommy. Noticing someone's presence next to him, he turned to the girl.
"Hi, I'm Emma." The little girl said shyly.
"Hi Emma I'm Tommy." Tommy said.
Emma's eyes grew wide.
"Wait a minute, are you the same Tommy I metted at the park once? You have a friend named Chuckie, right?" Emma asked.
"Uh huh, and I see your brother is here too." Tommy said, pointing over to Emma's other side, where the kid formerly known as Big Binkie was sitting.
However, ever since that faitful day at the park, when Tommy, Phil and Lil managed to get rid of his binkie for good, his nickname was a thing of the past.
"My name's Brian kid." Brian said.
He still wore the same yellow shirt and purple shoes he wore at the park, but he was no longer wearing a diaper. Instead, he was wearing a pair of red overall shorts.
"Are you guys getting a brother or sister too?" Tommy asked.
"Yeah, our mommy's expecting triplets. That means, three babies at once." Brian said, displeased.
"Oh wow! That sounds like fun! I'm getting a baby sister." Tommy said, just as nurse Tina came to the front of the room, and clapped her hands to get the kids to quiet down and pay attention.
Meanwhile, shortly after Peter picked up Tommy for big brother big sister class, Didi's stomach finally calmed down, so she went into the kitchen to fulfill one of her wacky cravings. One would think she had switched places with Angelica at this rate, when she poured an entire jar of chocolate-chip cookies into a huge serving dish, sat down in a chair, and resting the bowl on her oversized pregnant belly, she sat back, and started gobbling down the cookies. Shortly after she had made herself comfortable, the doorbell rang.
"I'll get that." Stu called from the basement, where he was working on his latest and greatest invention, a toy for the Reptar corperation, that he hoped would win him $500.00.
He came upstairs and opened the door, to find Drew dropping off Angelica for the day.
"Have a nice day Princess." Drew said, kissing the top of Angelica's forehead.
"I will daddy." Angelica said, heading off into the kitchen, where she couldn't believe her eyes.
Her mouth gaped open, when she saw her aunt, eating an entire jar of chocolate-chip cookies, right before her. The three-year-old blond wasn't sure what to think at that moment, except, she wasn't happy that her aunt had taken her beloved cookies all for herself. However, she had made a deal with Peter when the announcement of her new baby cousin had been made. She knew if she was rude to one of the adults, the bet would be off. So she reluctantly, slumped down in a chair across from Didi at the kitchen table, hoping she'd save her a cookie.
"Hi Angelica." Didi said in between bites of cookie.
"Morning aunt Didi. Where are those adorable babies?" Angelica asked.
"Tommy's at big brother school, but he and Peter should be back in a little while." Didi replied.
Angelica didn't mind. She had a short while of peace and quiet, before the noise of the babies disrupted her peaceful day. Taking this opportunity to enjoy herself, she went off to the living room to watch TV, where her grandpa was asleep in the chair.
An hour later, Betty, who was watching Chuckie, Phil, and Lil, for the morning, picked up Peter and Tommy from the hospital after their class let out, and took everybody back to the Pickles residence. Before they left though, Peter had a talk with Brian and Emma's mom, arranging a playdate for them, as her usual babysitter had called her to state she was sick, and wouldn't be able to watch them the next day, and all throughout the class, Tommy seem to have fun doing arts and crafts with Emma and Brian. Peter figured Stu and Didi would be okay with the two extra kids at their house the following day, forgetting that during a pregnancy, as well as cravings, the mother can get a bit moody too. They arrived back at the Pickles house shortly afterwards, where Stu greeted them at the door.
"So, how did big brother school go today?" Stu asked.
"It went great! Didn't it Tommy." Peter said.
Tommy nodded and smiled at his daddy, though truthfully, while he enjoyed some of the class, there were parts he didn't enjoy as much. Peter put the kids down into the playpen, all except for Tommy, who he took into the kitchen where he gave his mommy the work of art he made in class. A picture of a flower, made with sequins and pipe cleaners glued to a piece of paper. Didi hadn't moved an inch since they left, as she preferred to be sitting or lying down when she could at this time.
"So, how did it go?" Didi asked.
"It went great! Oh yeah, before I forget, I hope you don't mind, but some new kids entered the class. Brian and Emma, two kids Tommy, Chuckie, Phil and Lil had all met at the park a few weeks prior to your getting pregnanent, have joined the class. Their mom is expecting triplets. Anyway, I know you're going to have Susie, as well as the rest of the gang here tomorrow, but is it okay if they come over too?" Peter asked.
Under normal circumstances, Didi would have been delighted for such an occurance, but being a pregnant woman with ocasional mood swings, this was one of those moments, when she broke down crying. Peter didn't say another word, rather, he got up and went and put Tommy into the playpen with his friends.
"Why is my mommy so sad?" Tommy asked.
"It's just another one of those mood swings. And remember what I told you, it has nothing to do with the swings at the playground." Peter said, giving Tommy a pat on the head, and heading back into the kitchen to see if Didi was okay.
Tommy then turned to his friends, who were all rolling the star ball around to each other.
"So how was big brother big sister school today Tommy?" Phil asked.
"It was great! You won't believe who goes there now. Member Emma and Big Binkie? Uh, I mean, Brian? That's his real name." Tommy said.
Chuckie blushed, letting out a smile.
"Uh huh." Chuckie said.
"Well Peter invited them to come play with us tomorrow, and I've gots an idea of something we can do." Tommy said.
"What?" Phil and Lil asked in unison.
"Well, I've been learning lots of stuff at big brother school, like how to help my baby sister fall asleep, feed them, and change their diapers, but they always have us practicize with dollies, like Angelica's doll Cynthia. I wanna practice with real babies." Tommy said.
Chuckie got up from the floor and walked up to Tommy, a bit unsure about this idea.
"Now wait a minute Tommy, are you sure this is such a good idea?" Chuckie asked.
"Sure it is." Tommy replied.
The rest of the day was uneventful, as Peter helped Didi take care of the babies, so she could rest, and not have to do too much moving around. He also agreed to give her some time to herself, as he'd have the playdate take place at his castle, to which Didi was grateful for. So the following day, when Brian and Emma were dropped off at the Pickles house, Peter rounded everybody up, and he, along with Brian, Emma, Susie, Angelica, Chuckie, Phil, Lil and Tommy, all headed to his castle for the day, where he decided to make a special treat for Didi to help her with her cravings.
"Okay kids, you all have fun playing in the living room. I'm going to make a mud pie for Tommy's mom." Peter said.
"Wow neat!" Phil exclaimed.
"Can we help you make the mud pie?" Lil asked.
Peter chuckled.
"Oh, no no no no. This isn't that type of mud pie. This is actually a chocolate pie I'm making. They just call it a mud pie because the chocolate looks like mud." Peter said.
Angelica's mouth started to water, as she licked her lips.
"I'd love to help you make the pie." Brian said.
"Okay sure! Go wash your hands at the sink in the kitchen, and I'll be right there." Peter said, laying the kids diaper bags in the corner, getting everybody settled with some toys, then heading back into the kitchen to get started, once he saw everybody was settled.
Once the coast was clear, Tommy turned to his friends.
"Okay guys, are you ready?" Tommy asked.
"Ready for what Tommy?" Susie asked.
"To help me practice being a big brother." Tommy replied.
"But Tommy, we get to practicize at big brother big sister school." Emma said.
"With dollies, and that's not gonna help us when the real baby comes." Tommy said.
"I still don't think this is such a good idea, but since I'm your bestest friend, I'll help." Chuckie said.
"That a boy Chuckie. Now, who wants to be a baby-baby firstest?" Tommy asked.
Emma let out a reluctant sigh.
"Okay, I'll do it." She said, lying on the floor, just as Angelica passed by.
"You wanna be a baby-baby Angelica and help me practice being a big brother?" Tommy asked.
Angelica rolled her eyes at her cousin.
"You must think I'm crazy. I wouldn't dress up as a baby even if you offered me every cookie on earth. Besides, the last time I tried to be a baby, a certain bald one wouldn't let me have any fun. I couldn't eat candy or talk to growed ups or play Penyotta or nothing! No!" Angelica snapped, stomping off towards the kitchen, where Peter unfortunately, overheard everything.
"Angelica, were you being mean to the babies?" Peter asked.
"Uh… No Peter, sir." Angelica lied.
"Remember our deal Angelica. If you're mean to the babies, you won't get that ten pound bag of Reptar bars I've promised you when your aunt delivers your baby cousin Trixi. Now, how about you come in here and help us with making the mud pie." Peter suggested, pulling out a chair at the kitchen table for Angelica.
"Nah, I'd rather eat the pie. Besides, I'm getting tired of aunt Didi eating all of the sweets for herself. It makes me sick." Angelica muttered, disappearing off into one of the bedrooms to talk to her Cynthia doll and get away from everybody.
Meanwhile, back in the living room, once Angelica had declined to be a baby, Susie accepted, so she and Emma got ready. First, Emma took off her pink jumper shorts, and Susie helped her put on a diaper from Lil's diaper bag. Then, Susie put on one of Tommy's clean diapers. Once they were dressed, the job started.
"I'll take care of Emma Tommy." Chuckie said.
"And I'll do Susie." Tommy said.
"What do we do firstest?" Emma asked.
"Uh, you're not spose to talk. Baby-babies can't say as many words." Tommy commented.
"Yeah, first, you two gotta babble, and cry when you need something. Then me and Tommy will try to figure out what's wrong, and take care of you." Chuckie said.
"Okay." Susie said, kicking her feet and babbling like a baby.
Tommy, Chuckie, Phil and Lil all had fun, tickling the two babies, making them laugh. Soon afterwards though, Emma started to grow thirsty, and started to cry.
"What's wrong Emma?" Chuckie asked.
She continued to cry, until she pointed over to a bottle sticking up out of the pocket of Phil's diaper bag.
"Let's feed her the bottle." Phil suggested, picking up the bottle of juice, and bringing it over to her.
Chuckie took the bottle from Phil and started feeding it to Emma.
"Mmmm!" Emma thought, as the apple juice trickled down her throat.
"Wow! Taking care of Emma is easier than I thought." Chuckie thought to himself.
A little while later, Susie wanted a bottle too, by imitating what she saw Emma doing, so Tommy got out one of his bottles and fed it to Susie, who, because it had been more than a year since she last had one, she had sort of forgotten how to suck on it, but after a little bit, she got the handle of it, and drank the juice, even though while she was having fun helping Tommy, something just, didn't feel right. However, she didn't want to disappoint him, so she graciously, played along for a little while longer.
After they had their bottles, Lil suggested they be rocked to sleep. However, because Susie and Emma were quite large, they weren't easy for Tommy and Chuckie to comfortably pick up in their arms. So Phil and Lil decided to help with this ordeal, by helping Tommy and Chuckie pick up Emma and Susie. Unfortunately, they all fell over on the floor, kicking their feet and giggling in the process.
"I don't think this is working out so good Tommy." Chuckie said, once he caught his breath and calmed down.
"Sure it is, we just, need to try something else. I know, let's feed them some food." Tommy suggested, running into Peter's kitchen, where he knew he had some baby food stashed on a shelf.
Unfortunately, he couldn't reach the jars, and Peter and Brian were busy, so using Phil and Lil, who stacked up on the floor, Tommy climbed on top of them, and was able to reach the jars of baby food. He got a jar of carrots down, and a jar of peas. Once he had the two jars, they then looked around the kitchen, until they found two spoons. They spotted some spoons that Peter and Brian were no longer using on the table, so climbing on Lil's shoulders, Tommy quietly snuck them off of the table, stuffed them in his diaper, then, they went back to the living room, before Peter ever spotted them.
A few minutes later, Chuckie and Tommy were attempting to feed baby Emma and Susie.
"Here comes the choo-choo train." Chuckie said, putting a spoon of baby food peas towards Emma's mouth.
Unfortunately, Emma didn't open her mouth, and the baby food peas went everywhere. By this time, Emma had had enough, and so did Chuckie.
"Stop!" Emma cried, tears streaming down her face.
"What's wrong Emma?" Chuckie asked.
"I don't wanna be a baby no more. The diaper don't feel right, and this food smells yucky." Emma said, about ready to cry.
Meanwhile, Tommy did the same thing with Susie, only he was feeding her carrots.
"Okay Susie, here comes the airplane." Tommy said, spooning the carrots into Susie's mouth.
While she licked the baby food carrots off of the spoon, she now saw why Emma didn't care much for the food. Being older kids, they had lost their taste for such foods, in particular, the mushy texture. This in turn, caused Susie to do something she doesn't do very often. She spit the food out on to the floor.
"Ick!" Susie said.
"What's wrong Susie?" Tommy asked.
"Tommy, I hope I don't disappoint you, but I'm a big kid, not a baby. I had fun helping you for a little while, but if you don't mind, I'd kind of like to be a big kid now, and go help Peter bake his pie." Susie said.
Tommy, being good spirited, understood where Susie was coming from, so he smiled.
"That's okay Susie, besides, I can still practice." Tommy said.
"On who?" Chuckie asked.
"Phil and Lil!" Tommy exclaimed, pointing over at the twins, who were more than happy to help him out.
After all, they were still technically babies, where drinking bottles, taking naps, and wearing diapers were concerned, so ultimately, they were better practice dummies, and accepted without even having to be asked.
Susie and Emma removed their diapers, which they never went to the bathroom in, though by this time, both of them really needed to go potty, so they did just that, then went off to the kitchen, where they decided to help Peter.
"Okay Chuckie, since I'm spose to be getting a baby sister, I'll take care of Lil, while you take care of Phil." Tommy said, as Lil lay on the floor before him.
"Why does it not surprise me that I get the ickier one of the two?" Chuckie muttered, as Phil lay down before him.
Just then, Lil had a major poop in her diaper.
"Eeewww! What's that smell?" Chuckie asked.
"Don't worry Chuckie, it's just, Lily's diaper." Tommy said.
"Lily?" Chuckie asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah Chuckie, Phil and Lil's baby-baby names are Lily and Philly." Tommy explained, getting a diaper and some powder from Phil and Lil's bag, and getting started.
"Poopy!" Phil cried, just as he started to stink up the place, much to Chuckie's dismay.
It looked like they'd be changing their diapers at the same time. Chuckie got one of Phil's clean diapers and some powder, and soon, they got started.
"Okay Lil, now hold still." Tommy said, taking off her dirty diaper, and applying the powder.
"Okay Phil, now hold still." Chuckie said, trying to do the same, only because Phil kept kicking and squirming around, not being as cooperative, making it very difficult for Chuckie.
Not only did Chuckie throw up at the smell of Phil's poop upon taking off his diaper, but when trying to apply the powder, Phil grabbed it out of Chuckie's hand, and squirted it in his face, covering his glasses, making it impossible for him to see.
"Help! Tommy help!" Chuckie cried.
"I'm coming Chuckie, hold on. I've gotta finish Lil." Tommy said, getting her diaper taped together.
He then pulled out a wipe from his diaper bag, and went over to clean off Chuckie's glasses. While this was going on though, Lil decided to be difficult, by taking off her clothes, and her diaper.
"Poopy!" Lil cried, giggling.
Tommy turned to see she had taken off her diaper. This time however, when he tried to get it back on to her, forgetting she was suppose to be a baby-baby, who couldn't walk or crawl yet, she got up, and started running naked through Peter's castle.
Phil, seeing this, thought it sounded like fun, so took off his clothes and diaper, and decided to join in. Tommy and Chuckie now had the difficult task, of trying to catch them, and get them to stay still long enough, so they could redress them. Meanwhile, Angelica had grown so bored, that she had fallen asleep in the bedroom where she had escaped to in order to get some peace and quiet.
Peter overheard the running and shouting, and went to see what was going on, but before he could get there, the phone rang. He went and answered it, to find it was Stu checking in. Tommy and Chuckie, nearly out of breath, caught up to the naked Phil and Lil, who were also tired from running around, not to mention, they had tracked baby powder everywhere, because Phil had knocked the bottle over and stepped in some that spilled out on the living room carpet. When they got to the room where Angelica was curled up, taking a nap, not wishing to wake her up, they calmed down, and all four of them, collapsed to the floor in exhaustion.
To Tommy and Chuckie's surprise, Phil and Lil drifted off to sleep. Seeing this, Tommy whispered to Chuckie.
"Come on Chuckie, now's our chance. Let's get their diapies on to them." Tommy whispered.
"Diapies, don't you mean, diapers?" Chuckie asked.
"Chuckie, diapie is the baby-baby word for diapers." Tommy explained.
"Call them whatever you want, but I'm potty trained, I don't wear diapers no more. Therefore, I'm gonna call them by their growed up name, thank you very much." Chuckie protested, walking up to a sleeping Phil, where he successfully got the diaper on to him this time, and Tommy, did the same with Lil.
No sooner had they gotten their diapers on to them, when Peter came into the room to check on everybody.
"How's it going in here?" Peter whispered.
"Great Peter, I'm getting lots of practice to be a big brother." Tommy whispered.
"Tommy, as a future big brother, don't you think you and Chuckie ought to go play some place else, so your practice babies can take their nap?" Peter asked.
"I think you're right, come on Chuckie, let's go." Tommy said, taking Chuckie's hand and tip toeing quietly out of the room, so as to not wake Phil and Lil up.
Another hour later, Peter's pie was done, and the delicious smell awoke Angelica and the twins.
"Mmmm!" Angelica said, licking her lips and heading into the kitchen, where Peter was getting the pie out of the oven, and laying it on the table for it to cool.
"Hi Angelica, did you have a nice nap?" Peter asked.
"Oh yes Peter, I did! May I have a piece of pie please?" Angelica asked.
Peter shrugged his shoulders.
"Angelica, I already told you, this pie is for your aunt Didi." He explained, taking a seat at the table.
"Why does she get to have all of the cookies, candies, and pies?" Angelica asked.
"Angelica, do you remember what your mommy and daddy told you about babies? You know, where they come from?" Peter asked.
"Yes, my mommy and daddy told me they come from the stork." Angelica said.
"Angelica, actually, the truth, your new baby cousin is in your aunt's tummy. And as you know, that's where food goes too. Now, your aunt, and your cousin, until it's time for her to be born, both eat the food that goes into your aunt's tummy. So, your aunt has to eat extra food so your new cousin can eat too. Do you understand?" Peter asked.
"But can't aunt Didi eat baby food? After all, she's going to have another dumb baby." Angelica said.
Peter reached into a pocket of his gray Confederate uniform, pulled out a Reptar bar, and held it up to Angelica, reminding her of their deal. The blond sighed reluctantly, realizing she wasn't going to win this battle, leaving the table, before she lost it, ruining her aunt's pie, even though she was very envious of her at the moment, if there's one thing she's learned from the time she's known Peter, is to not mess with him, because he timed her out much harder than either one of her parents, or even her aunt and uncle for the most part. It was also pretty certain, that he'd tell her parents what went on, causing her to get some other punishment in the process, thus, she figured she'd better not risk it. She really wanted that ten pound bag of Reptar bars, and would do anything to get them.
Back in the living room, everybody awoke from their nap, just as a knock was heard at the front castle doors. Peter went to answer the door, to find that Betty had shown up to pick up Phil and Lil.
"I'm here to pick up the pups. Stu, Chas, Drew and Randy will all be by to pick up everybody else later." Betty said.
"Oh, they're doing great, we all had fun today." Peter said, leading Betty into the living room, where Tommy and Chuckie were struggling to get Phil and Lil dressed, but neither one of them was cooperating.
"Lil, I mean it, stay still!" Tommy snapped.
"Wow Tommy, what got into you?" Chuckie asked.
"Nothing! I'm just, having a mood sling." Tommy replied.
At that moment, Betty walked up to her kids, displeased they were only half dressed.
"Come on Phil and Lil, let's get you two dressed." Betty said, picking up her kids, what remained of their clothes, and taking them into one of the bedrooms, where she could put them on the bed at a better position for her to dress them. Unknowing to her, Tommy and Chuckie had followed her into the room, to watch her dress Phil and Lil, who to their surprise, calmed down for their mommy. They stood there quietly, watching Betty finish dressing them. Shortly after she had their shoes back on their feet, she picked them up and left Peter's castle without saying another word.
"I don't think their mommy was happy about them getting undressed neither." Chuckie whispered to Tommy.
However, Tommy didn't let this get him down. He figured that there'd be good moments, and not so easy moments when being a big brother, and at least, he got some practice.
A little later, Chas, Randy, and Brian and Emma's mom, along with Drew came to pick up their kids, leaving Tommy as the only one left after they were gone. Peter was going to feed Tommy some dinner, but he was more tired than he thought, as he had passed out on the living room floor.
"I guess Tommy learned that being a big brother is more exhausting than he thought." Peter thought to himself, as he sat down in one of his royal red easy chairs, and watched Tommy sleep peacefully on the floor.
Shortly after sunset, Stu arrived to pick up Tommy. Peter answered the door and let him in.
"So, how's the mother of craving and mood swings?" Peter asked.
"She's fine, just, very tired. Though now she has a craving for pork, much to my in-law's dismay." Stu said.
"What do you mean?" Peter asked.
"I don't know, something about it not being cosure. Don't ask me to explain it. I mean, I thought the whole Passover seder was boring." Stu said.
"Yeah, I remember. By the end of that night, we were all trapped in their attic Thanks to Erebus, I finally chopped the door down when I had enough of Boris's story of his aunt and uncle meeting at that Passover seder." Peter said.
"I know, in fact, have you ever been back to actually repair their attic door? Or does it still remain unattached to its hinges, thanks to you and Erebus finally freeing us at nearly midnight?" Stu asked.
"Unless your father-in-law fixed it, it's still the way I left it." Peter said.
"Yeah." Stu said, walking into the living room and picking up Tommy.
"Thanks for watching Tommy." Stu whispered, carrying his sleeping sun out the door.
"No problem. Just a heads up, he's pretty eager to be a big brother." Peter whispered, seeing Stu and Tommy off.
He then went and sat down in his easy chair, thinking about Didi's parents. He thought about how they're always talking about the old country. Knowing Didi would be due pretty soon, he figured she's probably got registries for her baby shower booked at several stores. Then, he had a thought of something he figured her parents would most likely do. He closed his eyes and imagined the baby shower.
In his imagination, it took place at the park. Peter was the one to announce the giving of gifts to Didi.
"And now, may I present the first gift, for the soon to be mother of Didi Pickles. The first gift to be bestowed upon her comes from her very own upbringing." Peter said, as Boris and Minca appeared before him.
However, along with them, was an ox pulling a cart filled with glass baby bottles, wooden baby toys, and cloth diapers.
"What is this mom and dad?" Didi asked.
"It's your new diaper bag." Minca replied.
"Though in the old country, we didn't use diaper bags. We pulled all of the baby's supplies with oxin." Boris explained.
Peter just rolled his eyes at the Russian elderly couple, as he came out of his thoughts, glancing around his living room.
"Do I even wanna know what her parents might have in mind? Nah, I'll wait." Peter thought to himself, letting out a yawn, then remembering that he forgot to give the mud pie to Stu.
"Oh my gosh!" Peter cried, running into the kitchen and picking up his mud pie.
He had one of his servants drive him out to the Pickles, hoping someone would still be awake.
"Please be awake, please be awake." Peter muttered to himself, carrying the mud pie up the front steps to their door.
He rang the doorbell, greatful footsteps were approaching. Lou answered the door.
"Well hello Peter, what brings you here?" Lou asked.
"I forgot to give this to Didi, think you could give it to her?" Peter asked, handing Lou the mud pie.
"Sure, though she's upstairs with the sprout." Lou replied.
"That's fine, she can enjoy it tomorrow." Peter said, heading back home, as it was growing late.
Lou closed the door and eyed the pie, his mouth watering. He so wanted to have a bite, but not wishing to deal with the daughter-in-law of all mood swings, he took it into the kitchen and placed it in the fridge, where a ham, chocolate pudding, and two packages of bacon were all waiting for Didi to eat the following day. He then decided to head up to bed himself, but before heading to bed, he peaked into Stu and Didi's room, where Stu hadn't come up to bed yet, because he wanted to do a little bit more work on his Reptar wagon, but Didi was there, sound asleep, with Tommy asleep on top of her pregnant belly.
At that moment, Trixi, who they'd find out in a few months was really Dil, kicked. This startled Tommy awake, as he looked around, wondering what startled him. Then, the funny motion of the baby kicking occurred again, as Tommy felt it again, this time, laughing because it felt funny. Then, he closed his eyes and went back to sleep, excited about becoming a big brother in the future.
"That's my Scout, and I'm looking forward to getting another grandchild in the near future." Lou said to himself, smiling, as he headed off to bed, leaving his only grandson at this time, to sleep with his expectant mom.
The End
Author's Note: I hope this story turned out okay. Also, the line where Tommy remarked about Lil's diaper, calling her by her baby-baby name, and Lil taking off her diaper and saying poopy, were references to The Loud House. And yeah, I know, why would I be making Loud House references when it didn't exist at the time season 5 of Rugrats did? Because despite when the story takes place in the Rugrats timeline, it's being released right now, post Loud House's premier, so there. Also, notice how Tommy got mood swing mixed up, calling it a mood sling? Well, I thought that would be kind of cute too. We also learn here why Chuckie always called diapers diapers, even post Dil's birth, while Tommy and the rest of the gang, called them diapies. There were also several Rugrats episodes referenced in this fic as well. 'Passover,' from season 3, the version where Peter was present, 'Angelica's Birthday,' also from season 3, 'The Stork,' from season 3, and I believe everything else was referenced in the story summary. Anyway, can't think of much else I want to say, so, I hope you enjoyed the story, thanks for reading and reviewing if you decided to leave one, and, be looking for more stories, coming soon!
