Sorry I haven't been posting lately. Anyway, you know I don't own any of these characters and...yeah. Enjoy!
Kurogane was not the type of guy to give up easily. In fact, everything he did had to go down in a fight. Now, though, as he stared at the slowly dying Fai, he couldn't recall ever feeling this helpless. The mage's body was pale and the left side of his face was completely covered in bandages. His beautiful, blond hair was matted and the smell of blood was suffocating.
Sakura sat in the corner, eyes wide yet no tears visible. The large ninja guessed she was too shocked to even cry. Mokana, for the first time ever, was not being overly dramatic, but sobbed quietly next to Sakura. Except for the small creature's crying and Fai's labored breathing, the room was completely silent.
Suddenly the white manjuu bun's red jewel on the top of his forehead began to glow, and the time and space witch, Yuuko, appeared, wearing a grim expression. All eyes turned towards her, anticipating her words.
"It seems," she said slowly, carefully, "that like all else, you will have to pay a price in order to save the magician."
Kurogane nodded. "Whatever it is, I'll pay it!"
Yuuko sighed, looking almost as if she felt sorry for them. "The price is your most valued treasure."
"Which is..?" He asked hastily.
The witch looked squarely at him. "Your princess."
Crimson eyes widened in horror. "What!?" He gasped.
"Tomoyo. A life for a life," she stated simply, looking away.
Kurogane's mind raced and his heart fluttered like a caged bird. How could anyone ever be asked such a question? In his heart, he knew that he loved the princess, but he also knew that Fai was his friend. He needed both of them.
A cold hand lightly grazed the ninja's large one. Glancing down he saw Fai, gazing calmly up at him.
"You know what to do, Kuro-ping," he managed. "My time is up."
The two men stared at each other for a time, letting the world fade around them. Closing his eyes, Kurogane sighed.
"I'm sorry, Witch," he said after a while, "but I'm afraid we don't have a deal."
Yuuko nodded in understanding and then vanished. The room was once more silent. Fai watched as his friend clenched his giant fist and hit the wall, causing yet another dent.
"Aw, don't be like that. I'm not scared of death. In fact, it's like a whole knew adventure. Although, I won't have you guys there. I am a little upset about that."
Turning his pale, blue eye towards Sakura and Mokana he smiled gently. "Don't cry Moko-chan. It doesn't suit you, and you keep smiling, Sakura," in a softer tone he added, "Say good-bye to Syaoran-kun for me, won't you?"
Tears began to roll down the princess' face as she nodded. Then the mage turned back to the large man before him.
"I trust you'll look after them. After all, you are their daddy," one of his old mischievous smiles crossed his bloodied lips before a new look rested on his features. "It was a pleasure meeting you, Kurogane."
And with that the magician sighed, closed his eyes and smiled for the last time.
Kurogane's red eyes welled with tears and he turned away, rubbing them vigorously.
"Kurogane-san?" Sakura whispered quietly.
"Darn idiot called me Kurogane," he chuckled. "It took him this long, but he did it. He called me Kurogane."
Ok, I don't care if you don't like this pairing (it is supposed to be Kurogane and Tomoyo, I am not a KuroFai fan but it does not bug me as much as some other pairings-Fai and Sakura) please comment on how it is written or the content of the blib or something, not on pairing. Thanx!
