Molly sat at her desk doodling pictures in her note book. She was early, as always. Not even her teacher was there yet. The other kids would play on the play ground or kick a ball around on the pavement before school started, but not Molly. She had never been very social and was much more content to being on her own.
Molly heard the classroom door open. She turned her head, expecting to see her teacher, but instead, a boy she'd never seen before walked in. He was tall and skinny and had a mop of curly dark hair on top of his head. His eyes were a blue green and the most beautiful pair of eyes Molly had ever seen.
"Hello," Molly said quietly. She became more shy as she was instantly infatuated with this boy. "Are you new?" The boy nodded.
"My names Molly," she said smiling. "You can come sit next to me. No one sits there." The boy didn't say anything, but sat where she told him.
"What's your name?" She asked. He boy didn't say a word. He looked down at his desk with his fingers pressed in front of his lips.
"It's ok," Molly urged. "You can tell me."
"Sherlock." The boy muttered softly. Molly smiled. "That's a nice name." She said. He shrugged in response.
"I bet you came in early so no one would notice you." Molly said without thinking. Sherlock raised his eye brows at her in surprise, but nodded.
"That's what I would have done too." She said. They were quite for a minute before Molly quickly said. "I bet you don't have any friends." Sherlock gave her a slightly confused look. She blushed. "I mean, since you're new, you probably don't know anyone. It's alright, I don't have friends either." Sherlock didn't respond. He placed his hands on his desk and looked around the room. Molly put her hand on top of his. Sherlock turned red at the gesture but didn't pull away.
"Want to be my friend?" Molly asked shyly. Sherlock turned his hand over under hers so his fingertips were pressed against her wrist. Molly wasn't sure why he was taking her pulse, but she didn't question him. Sherlock looked her in the eyes and a small smile tugged on the corners of his lips. "Okay." He said. Molly smiled. The bell rang and children began pouring into the classroom. "Okay."
