1. Coffee and Scotch
Peter was awake. He ached for sleep, but the thoughts he was running over in his mind weren't letting him rest. Unable to choose between coffee or scotch, he stared blankly forward.
"The world is wider than you think. There are things here you can't see".
The suspect's words hit him with malice, even his memory bitter at his death, minutes later. Peter didn't know how to think about it- the case, the phrase, or why it was eating at him. He rubbed his eyes and fought a yawn before retreating to bed, neither drink in hand.
After all, he reminded himself, the world was wider than that.
