So here is a plotline that was running through my head last night when I wanted to get some sleep in but oh-no the story fairy that inspire creativity in me was running miles inside my head. I hope you like. And here's the story.

Ichigo casually walked into the living area. Renji, in his shinigami form was right behind him. Renji had come to alert Ichigo of some spirit activity.

"ICHIGO!!!" his father screamed as he launched himself towards Ichigo. Ichigo, quickly dodge his father. Isshin slid into the ground right in front of Renji. Renji looked down at him with a surprised look on his face. Then Renji realized that Isshin had seen him. Isshin had a look of seriousness as he looked up for a quick second and turned and got up. "Ichigo, I was just preparing you for life."
"Yeah, sure, Old man!" Ichigo replied irritably. "I've got to go." With that Ichigo walked out with Renji following.

Later on…
Isshin was reading a book, when Renji came into the room. Renji wanted answers from Isshin. Isshin looked up quickly and then resumed reading his book.

"I know you can see me, Kurosaki-san," Renji said outloud. He wasn't expecting an answer though.

"That's Kurosaki-sama to you, Lieutenant," Isshin replied seriously to the somewhat surprised Renji.

"How do you know who I am?" Renji asked.

"Not that hard to figure out rank in the Soul Society, especially when you were once part of that rank," Isshin replied laying down his book. "So what do you want?"

"What are you? How can you see me?"

"Well, right now I am full blooded human. But I was once shinigami, like yourself. That's how I can see you, Lieutenant."

"But Ichigo has never mentioned this to either me or Rukia-san."

"That's because Ichigo doesn't know of what I once was and I would prefer to keep it that way."

"Why would you become human?"

"That's a question that I ask myself everyday, until I see my children. They are the reason why I am here. They are the living proof of the love that I shared with my late wife. For my wife, I gave up my captain's rank."

"You were a captain?"

"Yes, now if you are done asking me questions, one of my daughters will be coming back soon and this would be a little odd if they see me talking to nothing, don't you agree, Renji," Isshin said picking his book back up. "Oh by way, when you see Urahara-san tell him that I say hi."

Renji just looks at him, sighed and left the room.

Renji sat on top of a rooftop thinking about what Isshin had said. He had been willing to give up his Captains rank for a human. Renji was not sure he could do the same thing if it had presented itself to him. But then again, it could happen, he was not sure. He was sure he had been in love once but that ship had sailed. Now, he wasn't sure of anything. But there was still hope for Renji. Isshin had shown new light on what love can be. He would keep the information that Isshin had shared with him quiet until either Ichigo figures it out for himself or Isshin tells Ichigo himself. That's what Renji could do.
