A/N: So, I always thought that if you were dating or married to Alex, this scene should be more romantic. Always disappointed, however, so I wrote my own. I absolutely LOVE Alex. This is my first attempt to actually publish some of my HM fanfics, and if it goes well I have others for Animal Parade/Tree of Tranquility and Sunshine Islands. So, please review and tell me what you think! *****

I hadn't meant to work into the late hours of the night. I had planted so many crops this season that I could hardly keep up with them. I had been warned many times about overworking myself, but my crops had to be watered or they would surely die. Then what would Liz and Nina say if they found out I wasn't taking care of my crops? My eggplants, yams, pumpkins, spinach, and carrots all needed special, individual care. Of course my crops came after my animals. Not only did I have a deep affection for my cows, sheep, and chickens, but I really didn't want to face Hank's wrath, which I had been told was awful. And yet I still had time to visit and collect gifts for my friends in town, including my steady boyfriend Alex, who was the local doctor. It was around seven at night by the time I got around to watering my crops, and I realized too late that I hadn't eaten dinner. By the time I finally finished watering my crops one by one, carefully and lovingly, it was after nine! I was exhausted, barely able to stand. Now I wished I hadn't finished watering at the far end of my field, because the trip to my house seemed so long and far away. I groaned, stuck my watering can into my rucksack, and began walking, or rather shuffling, towards my small home. My feet scuffed against the dusty ground for what seemed like hours. Suddenly I tripped over a rock that arose out of the dark that I hadn't seen in time. I sprawled hard onto the hard earth and lay there, to tired to even move. My eyelids flickered weakly as I struggled to stay alert, but soon the darkness overcame me and I knew no more.

"Sarah?" Called a worried voice, just breaking through the darkness. "Please wake up." The voice pleaded. Why did it sound so familiar? My eyes flew open and I was instantly blinded by bright light bouncing off white walls. I squinted, and through slits I finally realized where I was. I was at the clinic, and Alex stood by my bed, his face deeply etched with worry. "You scared me," he said.

"I was just-" I attempted feebly.

"Working too hard," He interrupted, his voice slightly scolding. "Don't you ever do that again!"

"Alex, I-" I began weakly.

"Promise me you'll be careful," The doctor ordered. His powerful coal black eyes bored into me, and I was powerless to refuse.

"I promise," I whispered.

"Good," he said softly, leaning towards me and closing the distance between us. My breath sped up and my heart beat escalated as his lips found mine, warm and inviting. The kiss was soft and sweet, but with a hard, passionate, urgency behind it as our arms wrapped around each other. But he pulled away all to soon. "I just want you to be safe," He breathed, his hot breath heavy in my face. And then suddenly he was gone, and I was alone.
