An Angel's Punishment

I feel the souls; their power flows through me and I feel invincible.

I look over to my not-so-long-ago friends and see how they fear me. Well good, they should...I am after all, their new God, a better one than they could ever even dream to have.

I wait for their decision, wait for them to bow down and profess their love unto me when I sense it; a presence I have not felt in millennia and yet could never forget. I turn to see him enter, bathed in an otherworldly light.

I know the others are looking on in shock as the being I once called my creator, my father, steps forth and speaks.

"Castiel...what the hell do you think you're doing?"

I flinch back from the power lacing his words, "Fa-father, you have returned?"

"Well it's not like I could just let you go around telling everyone that you're their new God and that they should bow down to you or die."

He casts his eyes to the men standing behind me, still open-mouthed in shock, "Oh, hi Sam, hi Dean. Bobby."

Dean seems to snap out of it first, "Chuck? You're God?"

"Yeah. I was trying to keep it low key but then someone had to go on a power rampage."

I feel a sudden sharp pinch to my ear and see that Father has a firm hold of it between his right thumb and index finger.

"Now you are so grounded, Castiel. I mean, I give you an inch and you take a mile, just like your brothers. No flying anywhere 'til all that soul-juice is outta your system and you think about what you've done. You will then come down here and apologise to Sam, Dean and Bobby, then march your ass right back home. Understand?"

"Yes, Dad," I reply forlornly.

I may house all the souls released from Purgatory's Gates and from Hell's Prison, but five minutes with Father – who deep-down I know is the one true God – and I feel like are fledgling again.

As Father drags me out of the room I can hear the brothers' confused voices echo through the empty building.

"Okay, Sam? What the HELL just happened?"

"Dude, I have no idea."
