Artemis sighed as she rubbed her aching wounds. Today had been a particularly hard mission and her muscles were paying for that now. She desperately desired to be back at her home in the security of her home, but by the time she had cleaned and been debriefed it was far too late to go home. So here she found herself, stuck at Mount Justice with nothing to do except explore.
Her feet had subconsciously decided that to cure her boredom she should eat and soon she found herself at the door of the kitchen. Just as she was about to enter, she heard the unmistakable voice of Kid Flash muttering something under his breath. Normally this wouldn't have stopped her and she would have just strolled confidently in whilst teasing him about something. At the moment though, his expression seemed so serious that Artemis felt the need to spy and discover what was making him act so uncharacteristic. She slowly backed out of the room and backed against the wall, willing her ears to pick up Wally's words.
'Wow...you are magnificent' she just managed to pick up him saying.
Her eyebrows shot up. Who was he talking about?
After a while she silently snorted and rolled her eyes. He was probably talking about himself. Still, she couldn't help but listen to him some more.
'You are honestly the most beautiful thing I have ever laid my eyes on'
Now that seemed too sincere and gentle for him to be talking about himself...Suddenly Artemis got the feeling she was eavesdropping on a private moment, but there was no one else in the room with him!
'It's like the angels themselves made you. You are just so perfect'
Never had she expected such sweet things to come out of Wally's mouth. It was obvious he wasn't speaking about himself. Artemis was sure no one else was in the room with him though. Maybe he was on the phone...or he was practising a speech?
'I can't wait to take you into the next room and-'
Deciding she had had enough, Artemis straightened up and walked into the kitchen determined to find out who Wally was talking about. Her plan went right out the window when she saw him though. Her eyes went wide and her mouth went into a large 'O' shape. She crossed her arms and said in an aggravated and bewildered voice 'Were you seriously just talking to that sandwich?'
