This is basically what Mario should have done a long time ago.
One day Mario was walking along in the Mushroom Kingdom, doing Mario things, when some small Toad came up to him.
"OH MY GOSH, MARIO! PRINCESS PEACH WAS KIDNAPPED! OH NOOOOOO!" The little Toad cried in his signature high pitched voice.
"YOU HAVE TO SAVE HER!" He started crying, but Mario just looked down at him and said "You know what? I'm not going to go save her. I've been saving her for more than 10 years. Surely, there must have been a way to stop Bowser from taking her. If you want to save her, go ahead. But it's definitely not worth it. I have been crushed, eaten, burned alive, drowned, electrified, and fallen to death more times than I can count. So if you feel like it's worth living through that, than go save Peach. But don't say I didn't warn you."
Mario then walked away.
