Summer Lilies
This story is about the summer that Tiger Lily and Peter Pan meet- this is my first fic EVER, so c/c is very welcome. It's a work in progress, and will have several chapters- this one starts out with the day they meet. Hope you all enjoy it! -
The humid mist hovered about her face, forming tiny dewdrops of water upon her dark lashes as her eyes flashed with the excitement of the hunt. Her skin damp and flushed, Tiger Lily sprinted swiftly through the forest, strands of her lustrous hair loosening from her braids and streaming about her face like wild things.
Spotting the landmark she had been searching for, Tiger Lily abruptly stopped running and began tiptoeing towards the hidden entrance with slow, measured steps. Not a sound could be heard but for her softly drawn breaths from the moist and sticky air.
Just as Tiger Lily had reached the knot and was about to turn it, she heard a loud twig snap and whirled around, her white deerskin hunting dress whipping around in the breeze like a frightened swan. Weapons in hand, she scanned the area with a defiant scowl. However, she neither heard nor saw anyone at all. She suspiciously turned back around, returning to her secret task, not at all feeling at ease.
-----------------
Unbeknownst to Tiger Lily, there was indeed a pair of bright green eyes belonging to a certain flying boy observing all of her goings on, and a mischievous smile played about his lips as he hovered in the treetops over her head.
Peter was fascinated by this strange creature- never had he encountered such an animal! It was obviously female, but was it animal, vegetable, or mineral?
It certainly wasn't a mermaid. It had no tail- and it was too big to be a fairy. Besides, Tinker Bell would have told him if there was a new one anywhere in Neverland. Peter was utterly baffled at what it could be. The creature had skin like him and the boys, but it was a darker, burnished color, not at all natural. It was tinted red and blue on its face, and a solitary scarlet feather rose from the back of its head. But it wasn't a bird! It hadn't spoken either- did this creature have a voice?
Peter had had enough of guessing. He decided to find out for himself. Swooping down from his perch, he flew down just far enough to snap one branch and rapidly flew back into the trees, hoping to get a reaction. He was quite fascinated by the way she whirled around, the way her dress floated around her, the way her eyes flashed- the fierce expression of her face as she glanced around the clearing. He was rather disappointed when she turned back around and returned to her task.
He silently observed her for a few more seconds, when he made a decision. He was going to capture the creature for his own amusement! He swiftly dove towards Tiger Lily and she flew around, her dark eyes wide with astonishment. About to scream, her voice escaped her as she was swept into the air, soaring into the tropical sky in the arms of the mysterious boy who refused to grow up.
