A/N: I know it's late but, Happy Birthday play for keeps!
"Happy Birthday to you," Her friends and family sang around her. "Happy birthday dear Courtney!"
It's always awkward when people are singing "Happy Birthday" to you. Courtney always felt like she didn't know what to do with herself. Of course her mom insisted that they do an old fashioned birthday cake and candle celebration with her family/friends. Even though she was officially eighteen years old and a little too old for this type of stuff. Her mom probably just did it so she could take pictures.
"I'm eighteen years old," Courtney sang prettily. "I'm eighteen years old, I'm eighteen years old."
"Make a wish," Courtney's mom laughed.
Excellence and success in this world…
And she blew out the candles.
She was officially eighteen years old. She was finally an adult. Courtney could be the independent woman she had always wanted to be. This year, she'd start her second year at Pennsylvania State University. After her four years, there, she'd go to graduate school at Princeton Law.
New Beginnings.
For some reason, Courtney felt like she was anew. She was looking forward to the future. But first, there were some loose ends to tie up.
That show, Total Drama that she'd embarrassed herself on. She would have to return in a week to participate in Total Drama: All Stars. It was part of her stupid contract.
She still hadn't squashed the beef with Duncan and Gwen, as there was animosity in the air whenever she was around them. It's why she decided to go home instead of staying at Playa during the fourth season. But she would have to come back to the island to compete anyway. When she came back, she'd make amends with Duncan and Gwen. She'd make amends with everyone she had offended on her time during Total Drama. She was an adult now and it was finally time to put those childish habits away.
The childish habit of whining for a prize. The childish habit of whining when she didn't win. The childish habit of letting her anger get the best of her.
And then maybe she could finally win a season. And the prize money could probably pay for the rest of school.
Courtney was definitely looking forward to the future.
