Author's Notes: Based on some spoilers I heard for episodes 14 & 16.
"Lindsay you should really talk to Danny in person about this."
"I know Hawkes, I just don't think I will be able to do it without breaking down."
"Okay, Lindsay it is your decision but he would appreciate it more in person."
"Thanks Hawkes" Saying before she turned to walk down the hallway to their office. It was late but she wanted to make sure it was on his desk for the morning. Because this will be the last time for a while at least that she would be here.
Danny walked in the next morning unaware of what had happened the night before. He had known that lately Lindsay had been having trouble being at crime scenes. He was hoping that she might start sharing now that it had actually caused her to skip out on a scene.
Then he saw it. It was an envelope with what seem to be a letter but only had his name of in. He recognized the handwriting as Lindsay's but thought it strange. She had never written a note for him before. He opened it and started reading the following:
Dear Danny,
I'm sorry I won't be able to tell you this in person because I will be flying back to Montana. But some things have come up in my life. I thought not only thought could I handle them. But I thought they had been dealt with. I asked Mac for a leave of absents. I don't know how long it will take for me to take care of this but I don't want for you to wait for me. I can't ask you to put your life on hold for me. Thanks for everything. It means more than you know.
Lindsay
The look on his face was one of utter shock. Wait, what Lindsay is gone. He ran to Mac's office. But the answer he got was the same that the letter had stated.
A couple of weeks pasted and the world went on to Danny's dismay. Danny was down in the dumps without Lindsay's banter. Sure he still flirted with women but it wasn't the same but he was beginning to like flirting with Angell.
"Hey Danny you want to grab a beer after work?" Det. Angell asked. Hoping to cheer up him up and get to know him better. She thought they made good partners.
"Yeah, sure Jennifer. Meet you at Sullivan's at 7" he answered.
He didn't mean for it to happen but after having a few drinks he was feeling a lot better and when she kissed him. He didn't stop her. He just wanted someone one to hold him and touch him. And maybe even comfort him a little. At least that's what he told himself but then he remembered the letter Lindsay had written him before she left. She had told him not to wait. He didn't even know what he was waiting for as he sat in the lab waiting for some results. She never said when she thought she might be back. I have to call her. I have to know what is going on because life was going on and he didn't want it to pass him by.
