This idea kept coming to my mind of what the outcome of the Harry Potter Series be like if Harry had an older twin brother.

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter

Daniel Heracles Potter despised his cousins the Dursleys with a passion. Over the years he and his younger brother Harry James Potter had suffered abuse at their hands which most men would deem unforgivable should the evidence be brought to light.

"You two freaks will see to it that the grass is mowed down, weeds pulled out of the garden and then go to play at the park until 6:30, do you understand?!"

Their fat, whale of an uncle Vernon spat glaring at them with beady eyes whilst their cousin brother Dudley Dursley grinned approvingly at the back ground. Petunia was in the kitchen singing a hymn as she cooked a delicious meal for three.

"Yes uncle Vernon."

They replied in sync being accustomed to this behaviour for the past eight years.

"I'll pull out the weeds whilst you mow the grass Harry." Daniel suggested once they had went outside knowing that Petunia's garden was massive.

"No, you mow the grass this time Daniel." Harry refused. He knew what his brother was trying to do.

"Sorry little brother, but i'm already in the garden." he smiled as he bent down and started to pull out the weeds with gloveless hands. His aunt Petunia slapped him across the face when he asked for a pair in the shed to use once.

Harry just sighed and turned on the lawn mower.

As he pulled out the weeds in the flower garden and proceeded to move and stopped when he saw a green snake trying to slither away from his path.

Daniel didn't know what came over him. Instead of shouting out "snake!" he proceeded to follow it.

"Hey wait!"

He shouted over the noise being emitted by the mower and to his surprise, the snake slowed down only to turn and raised its small head its forked tongue twitching.

Daniel didn't know what to do next. He thought of panicking but something about the way the snake stared at him told him that it wouldn't attack.

"You can speak my tongue." the snake said or at least that what daniel thought.

"What do you mean?"

The snake's head shifted slightly to the right as though in wonder.

"You have magical blood flowing in your veins and possess the gift of serpent tongue. I've heard rumors from other snakes who spoke of magicals who could spoke our language and thought them to be false. It truly is an honour to meet one."

Daniel's confusion turned to shock at what the snake was implying. Wasn't he speaking English? Was he hissing instead?

"You mean to tell me that i am hissing."

The snake lowered its head to the ground and turned around.

"Yes, you are speaking in serpent tongue."

It then slithered away leaving him with a gobsmacked expression.

For the entire day Daniel wondered what the snake meant about him being magical. When he told Harry about it he replied that maybe he was under the influence of the hot weather. At night when they slept in the cupboard, he had dreams of that encounter and also dreamt of the way their hair which had been cut only to grow back the next day a year ago, or the time Harry turned their teachers hair blue and last but not least when he disappeared only to reappear on the roof.

He suddenly woke up sweating.

"It had been magic all along." he whispered to himself. "That's why we couldn't explain it."

His eyes suddenly became saucers only to narrow in anger when he remembered his uncle and aunt's desperate if not stupid ways of doing everything possible to prevent them from reading books that spoke of any kind of magic be it fairy tales. They even instructed their son to report to them after school if they had dared to do so, and Durdley who saw them as nothing but punching bags lied to them so he could watch gleefully as they got a verbal and physical lashing by Vernon.

"We are magical, special. And they are not. That's why they hate us, they crave our power and can never have it, so they resort to beat us." he said in realisation.

"So it's true then?" Harry asked his brother in the park filled with excitement a year later when he set a python free from the zoo.

"We have magic and can speak to snakes."

"Yes Harry, that's why they despise us. That's why they forbid us to watch or read anything involving magic or any kind of powers. Pathetic really" Daniel replied calmly.

Harry looked confused for a moment,

"But why?"

Daniel looked at him and smiled a little.

"We are special and they are not."

Harry's expression turned to shock at that statement.

"That's not a nice thing to say Dan."

Daniel looked thoughtful for a moment trying to come up with a better explanation.

"What i mean to say is that we have magic and they don't and so they perceive us as a threat to what they believe to be normal and yet they are anything but normal. In other words, they despise what make us different."

Harry nodded.

"So what do we do?"

Daniel inhaled looking up his eyes squinting at the bright scorching sun,

"We keep it a secret, no one must know."

.Two Years Later…

"You are wizards, the both of you."

Hagrid the giant who had broken down the door and handed them both their letters they invited them to learn magic at Hogwarts said.

"Wizard's, really?" Harry asked before turning to look at his brother.

"I told you we were magical." Daniel responded with a smile.

Petunia and Vernon looked furious at this.

"You knew, you both knew?!" Vernon demanded in fury. "After everything we did, you went behind our backs and learned the truth?!"

Harry looked fearful whilst Daniel looked relaxed. He knew as Vernon did that they was nothing he could do about it. Gone were the days he would threaten them with violence, they now had someone they could report to who would protect them.

"I'm assuming that our parents were also magicals, were they not?"

Hagrid who was glaring at Vernon looked at the boy.

"Yes Daniel they were, didn't you know?"

"No, the Dursleys told us that they were jobless drunkards who died in a car crash."

He smiled when he saw Hagrid become furious and began to shoot at the Dursleys. He didn't hear what else was said but jumped in surprise when Durdley got a pigtail protruding out of his back.

"We should probably go."

Hagrid said leaving the house and they followed.
