Misao was one of the most popular persons in the Himura Family Law Firm. People genuinely enjoyed the company of the bright, vibrant girl. That was why people couldn't understand why she was dated such a stick in the mud.
Aoshi.
He wasn't even a lawyer. He was an investigator. Silent, brooding and mean looking, Employees loved to gossip about the man.
They were very careful not to talk about him around Misao. She was called the bulldog in the courtroom, and that title could extend out of it as well. If she heard one unkind word about her beloved Aoshi she would hound and badger that person until they apologized to Aoshi, and promised never to say a cross word about him ever again. When asked why she defended the iceman so vehemently she would say she loved him.
Her closest friends understood, and they accepted the couple.
One intern, after apologizing, asked why Aoshi never defended himself, why he let Misao do it. The young intern shook in her heels when he started at her for a long moment.
He answered her and walked away.
She sucked in a breath and went to tell her friends. Gossip dropped noticeably after that.
"Because I love her."
