"Yuki…" Shuichi said softly as he poked his head into Yuki's study.
"What do you want?"
"Ummm… I have a surprise…"
Yuki let out a long suffering sigh. Turning in his chair to face the "unwanted intrusion," he said curtly, "Well, I have a surprise for you too. I'm busy! I have a deadline to meet and I'm not going to meet it if you keep bothering me."
"But, Yuki…" Shuichi whined.
"Go away!" Yuki turned back to his laptop. Reaching for his cigarettes, he took one from the pack and lit it. Taking a deep drag, he slowly exhaled, never noticing Shuichi leaving, as the door closed with a soft click. When it came time to take a break a couple of hours later, he headed towards the living room, where he was sure he would find Shuichi curdled up on the sofa, watching television. Instead, the living room was unearthly quiet.
Yuki was very surprised when his pink-haired lover was nowhere to be found in their apartment. A frantic search of the area around the apartment was more fruitful. Sitting on a park bench, near where they had first met, was Shuichi. He looked so pathetic there and it was pretty obvious he had been crying too. "Let's go home."
"Why?" Shuichi said, surprising his lover.
"Because you look like a blubbering idiot."
"Do not!"
"Do too…" Yuki sat down next to him.
They sat there in uneasy silence. Yuki was the first to break it. "What was your surprise?"
"You know that award…?"
"Yeah?"
"Well, you won and I was asked to be a presenter for you."
"I hate award shows."
"I think that's why I was asked," Shuichi said ruefully.
Yuki simply pulled him close in reply.
"Awe, Yuki… You really do love me…"
They kissed.
