Subsequently being transported by the far reaches of space, Johann Schmidt/Red Skull has traveled and walked over the galaxy as a nomad trying to find a way to rejoin his rouge Nazi terrorist group, Hydra, as leader once again.
Red Skull becoming more tired and older ends up being approached, by Hela the Asgardian Goddess of Death who scent the many beings he killed in his journey around space. Red Skull allows her to take his soul until the time is right to cause more death among beings.
Time later, Hela releases Red Skull and takes him to the throne of the Mad Thanos's and he beseeches him to be his servant. Thanos agrees and tasks Red Skull to retrieve the Time Stone from Stephen Strange, and he would reclaim leadership of Hydra and become more glorious.
Red Skull is joined by Hela and also the Asgardian Loki, god of Mischief, who reveal to him of the existence of the Avengers and particularly the return of his arch enemy of the world War Steve Rogers/Captain America who is responsible for his failure and departure from Earth.
Hela and Loki transport and accompany him to Earth where he overtime gains support of many Hydra members and then invades Doctor Strange's residences, Sanctum Sanctorum and Kamar-Taj- with his leadership.
He ends up facing his arch-enemy (Captain America) and other Avengers temporarily, but they were still able to escape with the Time Stone.
Red Skull gives Thanos the stone as promised, and in return, Thanos goes back in time over 70 years ago and retrieves Red Skull after being transported into space by the Tesseract and brings him back to present day and tells him every circumstance. Doing so a more younger and prime Red Skull would lead Hydra as Thanos's enforcers of Death on Earth, as the present Red Skull asks Thanos to kill him because of his obsolete condition, and does.
Then, Thanos covertly takes back the younger Red Skull to Armin Zola, a former scientist and follower of Red Skull working with the agency SHEILD, to create a bloodline of him that can be another secret threat (other being Winter Soldier) to Hydra. Result Hydra is now more dominate under the leadership under Sinthea Schmidt, Red Skull's biological daughter and Red Skull returns to her at her side in the changed past.
