Hey, guys.

Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club © Kōji Ōji

A/N: The ending for the anime sucks. I do not know about the light novel so yeah, this is an anime-verse fanfiction.

It is blinding.

They are shining... with talent, and strong bond.

You smile, that's how it's supposed to be. They won the match. If it were you who swam the butterfly, Iwatobi Swimming Club would have lost. They are smiling, laughing―without you. Just like in the photo of them you saw before. It won't do if it's not Rin. It won't be perfect if it's not Rin. Without Rin, they'll lose their morale. They want to swim again with Rin. They want to swim with their best teammate. They need Rin.

Rin.

Rin.

Rin.

You fix the position of your glasses. Your hand tug on your blue-white jersey. You should have been the one who's down there. Putting arms over shoulders, laughing, shouting 'we won!', not standing in the supporters' seat and watch them as they move their body following the flow of water or jump into the water or getting out of the water and yell the their names.

Your smile starts to fade; it is hard keeping that smile when you don't feel sincerely happy for them.

(Hey.)

You grit your teeth.

(Hey, guys.)

Then, you inhale.

(Could you please... look this way? Even for a second. And call my name.)

Exhale.

(Please, make me feel like I'm one of you guys, too.)

You watch them as they walk away from the arena, without turning their heads to you.

Aren't you the one who's the member of Iwatobi Swimming Club? Aren't you their friends who had been training together? The four of you promised to win this match together, in relay. So, why are you standing here―alone?

Yes, Haru asked you whether it was okay.

And you agreed on it.

Why are you fussing over this?

Why?

Why?

(I want to swim with all of you.)

(I want to swim.)

(For the team.)

End.

A/N: I never thought I'd write in this fandom. But the ending just makes my heart break. I love all the RinHaru (yes, my otp is RinHaru) in this episode, but Rei―/sighs They were the one who dragged him to the swimming club. And when Rin returned, they just kicked him out of the group. I mean―look at their photo in the credit. Rei's the only one who's wearing his jersey. Excluding him enough? Oh, and I bolded the last sentence to make a sarcasm out of what Haru wrote under the tree. Thanks.
