To Think Ahead

Written for Jerza week, prompt 'Future.'

He and Erza had the rest of their lives to spend together, Jellal couldn't believe it. The woman of his dreams and he had so much time to spend with her; he grinned widely. His arm slung around her shoulders as she slept peacefully, tired from the wedding, reception and hours after. He would blush, but he didn't have the energy after the time he'd had, to dwell too much on those thoughts.

She shifted in her sleep against him and he sighed softly, unable to prevent the peaceful expression that covered his face as he saw how much prettier she could be than when she was scowling. The look of contentment on her features was comforting and he never felt better than at this moment when he got to see her so relaxed like this. He would never get tired of this sight.

Squirming slightly with a breath on her lips, Erza uttered one word that he couldn't hear, over and over again. When she kept tickling his chest with her words, Jellal eventually craned his neck to hear, squinting when he still couldn't make it out as he strained, as if narrowing his eyes would scare his ears into listening better. Eventually he made out the word 'Jellal,' and did blush this time.

Erza was thinking about him in her sleep? He felt his heart might burst out of his chest and flutter away; he was so happy. He himself had dreamt about her many times, but to know that he was on her thoughts, even subconsciously, was a great pleasure. The tone her voice took completely embarrassed him after he came down from his 'high.' She sounded a bit more needy and desperate than she would ever allow someone to hear, apart from what they'd been doing just an hour ago… If he had the energy to blush harder, he knew his face would probably be steaming from the heat.

She stopped saying his name for a while, panting hardly, before saying something else a minute later.

'I love you.'

If he thought he was happy before, then he was truly elated now. He felt this way each time she'd told him before and wasn't totally sure it would ever lose effect. It was a reassurance; after everything he'd done, and how little how he deserved it, he had her love. She was a drug to him, every puff of breath on his skin setting him on fire and all the memories he had of her, burned into his mind; desperate not to be forgotten again.

She brought the fire into his life, a raging beautiful spark that rivalled her hair. And he remembered; the name she'd got from him and made her own, come from the sight of her liquid fire hair. And she would continue to bring the light into his life, forever and always, for as long as they had in Earth Land with each other.

An Eternal Flame.

This one's weird even for me; sorry. I'm sad now, there's just the bonus prompt left to do, it'll be up in a bit.
