„What....?"
„Leave it, Gwen!" Jack said.
"But, Jack,…."
"No, I said hands off, and that's an order!" Jack turned on his heels and started towards his office.
As he passed Ianto, Gwen noticed him touching the young man's arm gently, leaning towards him and whispering something in his ear, brushing it with his lips.
She felt a pang of jealousy at the way Ianto's little smile seemed to please the captain.
Taking another look at the strange box with the note "Do NOT touch", standing in the middle of the coffee-table, she turned away and stomped towards her workplace.
Every now and then, she stole a glance at the box and the alien runes that covered it.
Finally she got up and walked over to Tosh, who was running a new weevil detector program on her computer. She leaned casually against Toshs' desk and made an effort to look interested in her collegues' work.
"Did Jack tell you about that box?" She tried to sound as if she didn't mind….at all.
"He just said that whatever it is that's in there, influences your figure and told me to keep away from it." Tosh replied absentmindedly, turning her back to Gwen.
Gwen went back to her workplace, collected some sheets of paper and strolled over to the autopsy bay to find Owen working on some samples he had taken from the last alien the team had caught.
"What is it about that box, did Jack tell you what makes it so dangerous?" she asked looking at Owen with wide eyes.
"No, but from what he said, I assume that it can change one's mood and is said to make one feel happy. If I were you, I'd step back now, this is going to be messy…."
Gwen hurriedly left the autopsy bay, thinking about trying her luck with Ianto. Recalling that the captain had whispered something in the young welshman's ear, she assumed that tea-boy might know something.
She found him in the kitchen, making fresh coffee for the team.
"What's the secret of that box, Ianto?"she asked, trying the direct approach.
Ianto turned around.
"I don't know but Jack told me to keep away. I think he will tell us in due time, so I'm gonna respect his orders." He handed her a mug and left the kitchen with the others' mugs on a tray.
Gwen turned to leave the kitchen and, with a frown on her face, walked over to the coffee-table where the mysterious box stood, seemingly beckoning to her.
She traced the alien runes with her fingers until she found a button. She felt a strong temptation to press it. After a couple of seconds' hesitation, she couldn't resist any longer and finally pressed the button with force.
She could feel the lock of the box open with a click and at the same moment she heard laughter behind her.
As she turned around, she saw her team-mates, handing over ten-pound-notes to Ianto, who accepted them with a smug grin and winked at her.
"Trust Gwen to push a forbidden button within a quarter of an hour!"
She looked back to the now open box finding a chocolate bunny and a card saying
"HAPPY EASTER, GWEN!"
