We sat outside that night on a grassy hill park a few miles from base. Fireworks lighting up the sky like colorful stars joining the heavens. It was well past midnight but neither of us were tired so we sat gazing up at the stars. It was almost symbolic for us at this point, the stars were a part of us now.
Even though neither of us where from the country the spirit from the 4th day of July was in our hearts as we smiled upwards gazing in awe at the sight before us, our hands linked together as they were so often as soon as we weren't being watched. I moved my head so it was placed on your chest and rolled on my side so I could look at your face, I looked in your beautiful eyes and you sat up, forcing me to do the same. I was about to ask if something was wrong until you put your hand part way in my hair and partially on my face. My breath catches as I realize what is about to happen, before it does. You guide my face to yours and then suddenly our mouths are connected it's a sweet kiss, soft as I'd always imagined it would be.
You pull away reluctantly but before you can ask me anything my hand winds into your hair as you did with mine. I close the gap quickly, even though it was smaller than the one before. Our lips crash together, mine open I can tell you were surprised because I feel your eyes on me but you relax and open yours as well. You let my tongue dart in your mouth and then I take initiative to explore it. Your hand finds its way back into my hair as I start running my hands through your soft curls. The kiss slows, we aren't rushed and we soon pull away for air.
"That was well worth waiting for" I proclaim. All you can do is nod before starting it over again. Eventually we left the park, a little more flushed than when we came, and you drive us back to the base. Slowly you walk me to my room kiss my cheek and tell me goodnight. I honestly don't want it to end but I know for tomorrow to start it must.
