-Fables of Farewell-

Summary: Gumi and Rin have been by each others sides for who knows how long, it seems that not one day has passed when the two weren't together in their own little world. But now, as the two begin to mature Gumi finds a new found feeling for her dearest friend. Love, friendship, tragedy, and deaths.

A/N: This is based off of Empath-P's newest album "Fables of Farewell ft. AvannaxMiku". Downloads are avaliable online and songs are on youtube if you're interested. Each chapter will have the name of the song it's based off as the chapter name (for those of you who would like to follow my writing adventures~). This is actually very hard for me to come up with considering I've had writers block for a while now. But as always, critique (HELPFUL CRITIQUE!) is always accepted. With that in mind, thank you for reading zis long author's note and enjoy

-Rose+Thorn-

The two never really knew this day would come. They never expected that, one day, they may have to split paths. Not once had it crossed their minds. But now, as they stood before each other with Rin holding onto her friend's hand tightly the truth of the matter was that that day had come.

"I'm so sorry...I...I didn't tell you because I didn't want you to be upset, Gumi." The blonde tightened her grip on her friend's hand, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes. She didn't want to leave, she didn't understand why she had to move so far from her- no...she couldn't say that forbidden word. Subtly shaking her head, the Kagamine girl clenched her eyes shut and quickly hugged her longtime friend before sobbing into her shoulder.

"Rinny...come on, we'll still talk to each other won't we? I mean it's not like we're just going to completely forget about each other, right?" Even as the slightly older girl said this, she felt her throat clench up. True, she couldn't stand the thought of her Rin being somewhere other than right beside her but that's just how things seemed to work out. The green-haired teen smiled as she felt Rin nod weakly against her, though it was soon replaced with a frown as the car behind the Megpoid's front gate honked its annoyance.

"Well I better get to leaving I s-suppose.." Rin muttered sadly, eyes downcast at the ground.

Gumi pulled her into another tight hug, resting her head on Rin's. "Hey Rin, you still have that letter I gave you last year right?"

"...w-well yeah..."

The two winced as the car honked shrilly once more.

"You have to promise me you won't open it until you're alone, okay?"

"B-but...why?"

Though it was only a couple of seconds later, a backseat window rolled down and another head of yellow hair showed up from behind the darkened glass.

"Rin, mom says she's going to burn all your Kaito pictures and not let you eat any oranges for the next month if you don't hurry up!"

"Just gimme a second Lenny!" Rin suddenly snapped at her younger sibling before looking back to Gumi. "Fine, but it's not anything too bad right?"

Now it was the other girl's turn to glance down at the ground, she couldn't look at her Rin and tell a lie- no matter how small it was. "Right."

She was so busy in her own thoughts of what Rin would think of her after she read that fateful note that she didn't notice that the blonde had pulled away and gotten into the car waiting for her.

"But Rin I just wanted to say something first-" she looked up...

Only to be staring at the empty street, a dark car already vanishing off into the distance with her Rin inside of it.

"I love you"
