The Young man sat upon his bed and sighed as he looked up at the ceiling overhead. 'Another year gone.' He murmured to himself. To him it was just another day, another period of time filled with average disappointment. He remembered how years ago his parents and brother sang to him that galling song. The day was over just as quickly as it had come, and nothing was different. He wasn't different.
It was Monday and school was passing quickly. As the bell signifying the end of fourth period rang out, Sasuke found himself dragging his feet to Kakashi's room for his normal lunch schedule. As he approached the door, he grabbed the smooth handle in his left hand. Just then someone opened the door full force, sending him crashing to the ground. 'Who the hell was that?' He thought as he stood up. "I am so sorry." The person in question stated frantically. "I was just going to look for someone…" The speaker had lifted her head and stopped talking. "There you are!" She exclaimed and enveloped him in a bear hug.
Sasuke hesitated for a moment before returning the hug. "Um…good to see you too Sakura." The girl pulled out of the hug and smiled before entering the room next to them. Sasuke followed suit, befuddled as to what had passed a moment ago. "Why were you looking for me and what was the hug for?" Sasuke asked her as they sat at separate desks. Sakura just turned and smiled before simply replying, "A. because I needed to give you your present and B. that was my present, because everyone deserves to have a special birthday. It's a time for miracles and dreams. I expressed that in the only way I know how." She smiled again causing Sasuke to blink.
Sakura returned to chatting away about the most random things as always, but Sasuke wasn't listening. He was so enraptured by his thoughts that he didn't see the knowing look she gave him. He went home that day sat upon his bed, looked up at the ceiling overhead, but this time something had changed. He felt different. He felt important.
