Title: Stolen Moment

Summary: One-shot, Bones & Booth have coffee... PG

It's strange how some days you will look outside, and trees are just trees, the sky is just the sky, everything is just something. Then there are other days you will look outside, and that tree is the most beautiful thing you've ever seen, the green of the leaves seems greener than anything you've seen before, the blue of the sky is so blue, and so clear it makes your eyes water, and your heart skip a beat. I'm having one of the latter days today; everything seems brighter and more beautiful. You though, you are beautiful no matter what kind of day I have. And today is no different.

"Bones, what're you doing here?" I ask, laughing. Parker's small hand is clasped in mine, and he's holding a Frisbee in the other. We come to the park on nice weekends when I have him. Today the air is a little chilly, so we're wrapped up warm. But the sky is clear, and the ground is dry so we're making the most of it.

"I'm just walking, making the most of the weather." She tells us. I glance at Parker who is giving her his childish grin, showing is small white teeth. Thank God he has such perfect teeth, no orthodontist visits for him when he's older, I think. I look back up, and her clear eyes catch mine. Sometimes I think I can see through them, into her soul. I know it sounds stupid, we are not lovers, and we do not spend every waking moment together like some. We aren't even a couple. We are just partners. See, there is that "just" again. We have a partnership where the word 'just' should not even be anywhere near it, we have a beautiful partnership. Like those dancers on stage, seemingly predicting each other's movements. Bones and I work together better than I've worked with anyone in my life, better than I ever will.

"Would you like to come back to mine for coffee?" I ask, and blink in surprise. Where had that come from? "Rebecca will be around to pick up Parker soon." I glance at my watch. She stares at something over my head for a moment, and I wonder if she is having one of those days too, whether she is looking at the trees behind me thinking they are as alive and beautiful as I feel they are.

"Sure," she rubs her cold hands together, and unwittingly I imagine her fingers tracing small circles on my chest, and I shiver, and not from the cold.

...

Parker has just left, and I'm sitting almost uncomfortably on the corner of Booth's couch. I can hear him coming back through his apartment door, he has just walked Parker to the car, and I hear the bump of his shoes as he kicks them off and into the wall.

"Jesus, it's cold out there," he says, standing in the doorway. I gasp internally, why is it I am so attracted to a man I really shouldn't be with? I've kissed him before. His lips on mine, his tongue tangled with mine, and his scent mingled with mine; it's not a moment I will forget. It is a stolen moment in my life.

He collapses onto the couch, and suddenly my hand, as if controlled by someone that is not me, reaches out and my fingers weave into his cold fingers. He looks up, surprise evident in his face. I shuffle closer, my thigh touching his, his leg twitches. "I know..." His mouth is on mine, and I cannot finish. I know this is wrong.

And so begins another stolen moment in my life involving you Booth.
