Ed was bored. The year had come and gone, and yet, once again, his birthday had been forgotten. Not that he could blame anybody. The homunculi were dead, and the country had been returned to a democracy. With the loss of the state alchemist program, he was no longer needed in the military. He had become just a regular citizen. His brother was away in Xing, doing research. And there was no way President Mustang would have time to visit, even for an old friend, as he was always so busy. And even thought Winry and him shared a house, he rarely, if ever, saw her. Yes, he was all alone, no friends, no family. He had given up hope of being happy on his birthday many years ago. Suddenly, a knock at the door was heard, signaling the postman. Ed's hopes momentarily jumped up-Had someone remembered after all? He opened the door. The postman had left already, leaving a rather large box, almost big enough for a human to fit into. Someone had remembered! He looked at the piece of paper taped to the box- "Open me inside, where no one can see me. Be careful bringing me in, I'm very fragile." It was written in Winry's handwriting. Overjoyed, he dragged the massive box into his house, wondering what could be inside. He pried the box open, very carefully, and inside was the strangest thing he had ever seen.
It was Winry, sitting in a corner of the box. She was completely naked, save for two pieces of wraping paper covering her naughty bits.
"Winry, what are you doing? This is complety unlike you." Ed asked. He was obviously shocked at what he was seeing.
"I thought you might be lonely, so I decided to drop by." she said, smiling. "Now, are you ready for your present?" She lunged at him, pinning him down.
"What the hell are you thinking!?" Ed exclaimed.
"I've seen the way you look at me, what you think about when we're in the same room." She said softly. "Now's your chance to do everything you've ever wanted to me."
He wasn't going to argue this, she was right. But he would never dare to act on those thoughts. But then he thought "It's okay now, she's letting you." It scared him, thinking that he would actually act on what he had kept secret for so long, bottled up in his head.
"What's the matter, Ed? Are you too scared to initiate anything?" She asked. "Then I guess I'll have to start for you." She slowly began to undo the zipper on his pants.
"Winry, stop this!" Ed screamed out. "Yes, I do think about you. A lot more than I should, too. But I would never act on those thoughts. You mean too much to me as a friend."
"Oh, Ed, that means so much to me." She replied. "But I didn't know what else to do for you. You're brother's back to normal, the homunculi are dead, and you're always so lonely."
"You silly girl, Winry. All I need from you is a smile."
"That's good to know, Ed. But, would it be acceptable of me to ask for a small kiss?"
"I think that could work." He replied. The two embraced, and shared a quick, but passionate kiss.
"Oh, and Ed…" Winry stated. "If you ever do feel like acting on those thoughts, you know where to find me."
"I'll keep that in mind." He replied. And if you get changed quickly, would you like to go out to lunch?"
"That woud be nice, Ed"
