I don't own Harry Potter and subsequent characters, nor do I intend to make profit out of this fiction. J.K.Rowling owns the whole Harry Potter universe, and due credits and kudos go to her for thinking of it.
Some lines are taken directly from some books, so bear with me.
Mrs.Weasley ran forward, but the hug Bill bestowed upon her was perfunctory. Looking directly at his father,he said 'Mad-Eye's dead'Nobody spoke, nobody moved. Harry felt like something was falling down in his stomach, falling down and down and down...
Harry couldn't believe it - Mad-Eye was dead. The tough, the brave, the consummate survivor was dead.
He saw Tonks silently crying into Lupin's shoulders. He knew that Mad-Eye was Tonks' favorite Auror at the ministry, her protege. She was depressed. All of time stopped for Harry as he thought back of his short snaps of occasional conversation with Mad-Eye.
He thought of the first time he had heard Bill mentioning Mad-Eye.
He understood that Mad-Eye was an Auror , one who never killed if he could help it - he brought in people to Azkaban alive whenever possible. Even the twins calling him a nutter did not change his opinion of Mad-Eye. He, in fact, understood and respected his paranoia, for that was what Harry himself was - to some extent – paranoid. He certainly understood the atmosphere which Mad-Eye had to survive, which made him go paranoid.
He remembered the time when the Order came to rescue him from the Dursleys. Mad-Eye had told him that he should not stick his wand in his back pocket for better wizards who had done so had lost their buttocks. He remembered how Mad-Eye saw Tonks roll her eyes behind him.During the same time period, he remembered Tonks shouting at Mad-Eye('Are you mad, Mad-Eye?') for trying to make them double back a bit just to make sure they were not being followed. Harry mentally chuckled at these thoughts.
He then remembered just a few hours ago when Moody chastised them for trying to have a cozy catch up on the marriage of Tonks and Remus.
At the same time, he remembered when Mad-Eye told that 'Even You-Know-Who can't split himself into seven'. He'd caught Hermione's eye and looked away.
He looked next to him, where Ron was comforting Hermione, lending her his shoulder. Everyone in the room looked lost and unfocused.
He then remembered Mad-Eye's mantra - 'CONSTANT VIGILANCE'. Adding the murder of Mad-Eye to the list of reasons why he wanted to destroy all horcruxes and kill Voldemort, he silently vowed to adopt Mad-Eye's mantra as his own mantra. There was no backing out now - he, Harry Potter, would either remove Voldemort from this world, or, he would die trying to do so - for his parents, his friends...'And Mad-Eye' he thought.
