Alriiight. I know this one might be a bit confusing so let me explain.
Mayu has trouble trusting people after the ordeal with her stepdad, which is why she can't bring herself to trust Nana.
Disclaimer: Don't own crap.
Three words.
Just three words.
Was that too much to ask?
Only 3 words, and 8 letters.
They were the only things Nana wanted to hear.
They were the only things Nana couldn't bring herself to say.
She loved Mayu more than the world itself.
She would kill anyone - everyone - for Mayu.
She would even give up her own life, just for Mayu to be happy.
But, Mayu never smiled around Nana.
Nana knew it wasn't like her.
She would easily let go with others.
But when Nana came around, her laughter halted, her smiles faded.
It hurt Nana, so much.
Worse than any pain she had ever felt in the institute.
This saddened Mayu.
Mayu knew Nana's pain, felt her pain.
She didn't do a thing to stop it, or even aid it.
Mayu loved Nana.
Mayu adored Nana.
Mayu would die for Nana.
But she couldn't.
She couldn't fall in love with a diclonius, of all things.
She was afraid.
Even though she knew the chances of Nana killing her were slim, Mayu could never bring herself to fully trust her.
That was the reason why she became apathetic every time Nana was around.
She knew it killed Nana, little by little.
If only Nana could understand her pain, as well.
They could never be together.
They could never fix what was broken.
And it killed them both.
I love you.
But I can't love you.
