A quick ficlet for Kingdom Hearts. I do not own the franchise (unfortunately), as it is owned by Tetsuya Nomura.

There was nothingness. Pure, deep nothingness.

He couldn't see. He couldn't taste. He couldn't hear. But could he feel.

Something was heavy on his chest, weighting him down. It was an odd sensation, one he felt before.

So he rested there, in the darkness, trying to think of what sensation, this heaving feeling, was.

Many months, or maybe a few seconds, past.

Then, he saw. A light, blinding, flickered in front of him.

He tried to grab it.

You sure you want it? A voice asked. It'll lead you to the truth, but the truth can hurt.

"Yes", he replied. He was surprised by the sudden sound ringing through his head.

He grabbed it. And he wasn't there anymore.

His cheek was against something cold and hard. He realized he was lying on a floor.

Possibly cobblestone, he thought.

Groaning, he stood himself up. Where was he? He glanced around at his surroundings. It was a laboratory... Of some sort.

He turned his head to the computer in front of him. It's screen was a bit dusty but reflective, like someone occasionally came around and cleaned. He peered at himself.

A blue haired man with yellow eyes and an X-shaped scar stared back at him.

Monsters surrounding a helpless girl with red hair...

"No..." he muttered.

A man held a weapon, a keyblade, Ansem the Wise and his small apprentice on the ground...

"It can't be..."

The same man handing him and a red-haired boy coats...

He clenched his teeth.

The same red-haired boy, now a man, was walking away...

Tears ran down his face.

A feeling of pain, another person holding a keyblade...

Isa collapsed onto the floor.

His chest... He knew why it was so heavy now.

His best friend, the only one who he had cared for, had discarded him for another.

"Sadness... This is sadness," Isa sobbed.

He then cried in anguish like a lonely wolf howling at the moon.
