Fairytales
By Karma Queen
Rating: PG13
Summary: No one ever told you that your preconceived notions of love were wrong. And because no one told you, you're about to find out for yourself…
Prologue
"And they lived happily ever after."
In the fairytales that you were always told as a child, there was never anything but a happy ending. The girl would live out her dreams with the perfect guy and the villains would all perish. The dragon would fall into a trap, and the princess would be rescued. Later on, as you grew, the stories became deeper, more beautiful and romantic, but the fairytale ending was still there. The socially deprived boy would learn to fall in love, and the happy girl who taught him how would love him to the end of his days. Good would always win over evil, and love would conquer all.
As a child, you grow with the preconceived notions that, if you love someone, you must be with them. You don't know how the world works, and the heartbreak that comes with it. No one has the heart to tell you in fear of smashing your fragile childish innocence. You continue to grow up, and your mind fills with fantasies of your true love coming and whisking you away to a land where you can be together forever.
No one dares to tell you of the hardships that come with being an adult. Somehow, you know they're there, but you blissfully cling onto the remnants of the childhood you'll soon be leaving. The teenage years come, and still you wait. The stories told to you as a child seem so far away, but the ideas never leave. If you love someone, why can't the world and all its troubles just stop and let you be together? True love will conquer all? Won't it?
"Ignorance is bliss." How true.
And because no one would tell you, you're about to find out for yourself…
