"Navi… fetch me the boy with no fairy… quickly," The great tree spoke slowly to the blue fairy he had summoned.

The confused fairy set out, she needed to find this boy fast! It would not be hard finding a Kokiri boy with no fairy.

Her gaze fell upon a boy walking through the forest, a gleaming sword at his belt. Pale grey hair, clad all in black, the boy looked like a shadow. But other than that, he looked Kokiri enough and so she zoomed towards him.

"The Great Deku Tree requests your presence, immediately!" She informed, her high voice startling the boy.

He glared at the tiny fairy, drawing his sword to bat her away with the flat of the blade.

"You must come with me!" She squeaked as she tumbled through the air.

"That tree can crumble for all I care," His harsh voice cracked through the early morning silence.

"You must come!" Navi regained her balance, once again flying levelly in front of him. He pushed past her, walking in the complete wrong direction. "Link, Link, Link, Link, LINK!" She buzzed around his head, darting quickly around, up and down, left and right.

"FINE!" He roared, glaring at the annoying fairy, "If it shuts you up! I'll go see the damned tree!"

He stormed over to the narrow pass which led to the tree.

"You cannot pass here without a sword and a shield." A snobby Kokiri boy stood with his hands on his hips and his nose in the air, sidestepping into the black-clad boy's way. He didn't even slow his step; he just barged past Mido, sending the other boy stumbling away.

"Link," The Deku Tree called.

"What?!" He spat back.

The tree proceeded to tell him of how he - the tree - had been cursed by a stranger and how it was slowly but surely killing him.

"Oh big deal," The boy scoffed, "I haven't got time for your sob stories, I came here for a reason."

"I am the guardian of this forest, keeping its people safe from harm and illness. I ask only that you rid me of this curse."

The tree creaked loudly, a giant opening appearing in its front. It stood there silently, waiting for the boy to enter. But he turned away, beginning to walk away from the dying tree.

"Link! You need to help the tree!" Navi waved in front of his face again.

"No, you need to leave me alone!" He glared at the fairy.

"Link… Link…"

"Start that again, and I swear I will hit you, with the sharp end of the sword this time!" The fairy stopped, hovering frozen in fear of this boy's threat.

A sudden wind picked up, howling through the trees and the grass around the colourless boy, it lifted him off his feet and sucked him into the Great Deku Tree, kicking and screaming. He tried to cling onto anything to stop himself from being pulled in, but the grass and the earth around him gave and he could do nothing more.

He landed on something soft and springy, but it also tugged at his hair and clothes. Pulling away from it, he saw he had landed on an enormous spider's web, covering a deep hole in the centre of the tree.

He heard a creaking, getting to his feet he sprinted for the exit, but it slammed shut just before he reached it. Attacking the inside of the tree didn't even scratch the ancient being.

He turned around, sighing in irritation. Resigning himself to the fact he would have to help the tree to escape it, he strolled across to two Deku Babas, slashing their stems lazily.

He climbed a wall covered in strange vines, slashing at several Skultula as he moved up the inside of the tree. Once he'd reached the top of the tree, there seemed to be no way forward. He stabbed a giant Skultula when it foolishly revealed its weakness.

He stood now; on a ledge overlooking the entire inside of the tree, he could see the sticky web he'd initially fallen onto. Navi flew behind him, pushing him off the edge of the ledge. He yelled as he fell through the inside of the tree, hitting the web, stretching it extensively before it gave and he fell like a stone into cold waters far below the tree.

"I am going to kill you!" He snarled, watching the fairy fly down at a leisurely pace.

After swimming to a nearby low patch of land, he found a door, leading to a chain of rooms in which he had to solve various puzzles. They weren't difficult and he figured them out in mere moments, but it was irritating him that he had to do this.

He kept attacking the wooden walls of these rooms, sometimes in exasperation at his present situation, other times; he simply attacked them because he knew it caused the Deku Tree pain which made him smile.

A wimpy Deku Scrub had said some riddle or other in one room before it had dug deeply into the ground where he could not harm it.

He came to a large room, falling into water once again. Cursing at his luck, he swam to land, where he was hit with several Deku Nuts shot by three scrubs occupying the room.

His temper snapped he hurtled towards one, grabbing the flowers which grew from its head, slashing at the creature.

"Link! Link stop!" Navi shouted, repeating this several times, but he didn't, and he did the same to the other two scrubs, only ceasing the attack when the scrubs lay in tatters. "You," Navi's voice was small, "you just needed to catch them…"

He picked up the remains of one of the scrubs, "Consider them caught." He tossed the parts at Navi, who flew out of the way quickly.

She stared at him traumatized. He swaggered over to the water, washing the residue from the murders off his sword. He was rather enjoying her distress.

"You brought me into this fairy, we do this my way!" He lifted the gleaming sword from the water, checking that the blade was still sharp and ready to cut down the next opponent.

Navi thought as she observed the boy, his mannerisms were so brutal and his tone so cold, she wondered if she had brought the right boy to the Deku Tree. Had the wise tree really chosen this boy to undergo this task?

The bars which had previously blocked the exit, slid slowly open, even they were shocked and fearful of this boy.

He strode through the next few rooms, his sword in his hand, ready to slash out at any enemy.

He approached a large door, quickly opening it with a flick of his wrist. Stepping into the next room, he observed the mist which covered the floor, before the door shut and the darkness consumed everything around him.

She was waiting for him there. Gohma crawled on the ceiling and spat her eggs at the ground around him.

Ruthlessly, he smashed the eggs before they had a chance to hatch and attack him, Navi was flying way behind him, keeping away from the whirling sword.

The beast, angered by his quick slaughter of her unborn children, flipped over, crashing down to the ground in front of him, rolling her eye madly. He would suffer for his crime against her children.

He rushed forward, a maniacal glint in his red eyes. Navi couldn't bear to watch. She turned away and closed her eyes.

She missed the black-clad boy leaping at the gigantic spider, a war cry passing his lips. His teeth were bared in a wicked grin as he sorted out the spider's death in his mind, he had a plan now.

The great spider showed malice and hatred in its rolling eye. The boy latched onto its back, feeling the armoured plates which coated its entire body. Knowing that these plates were impregnable, he stabbed his sword into the spider's eye, sheathing it to the held in the gooey eyeball before yanking it to the side, gauging a deep slice into the spider's eye.

The beast reared onto its hind legs, attempting to shake the child from its back. But he held on by the handle of his sword, firmly embedded into its eye, he swung from this handle, wrenching the sword around, causing the creature to shriek in purest agony. Great chunks of eye fell to the ground, slipping and sliding in the ever-growing pool of jelly and blood.

Navi felt faint. Just listening to the wet sounds of eyeball being torn apart and hearing the spiders screeches of agony was making her feel dizzy.

The boy laughed a crazed, marrow-chilling laugh. One only ever heard in the darkest of nightmares or fabled in scary campfire-tales.

The creature shrieked its last, toppling, dying from the pain and blood-loss from its punctured eye. The boy stood over it, yanking his sword from the last remnants of the large eye, its jelly now covered him from head to foot. A grin of pure insanity bloomed on his face in the thrill of the kill, his red eyes glinting horrifically in the light of a small blue portal.

He sheared off a chunk of the beast's great leg, sniffing it before pocketing it. He fancied trying some different kind of meat for dinner tonight.

Navi slowly and shyly turned around, immediately dropping. The boy stood, extremely amused at the fairy's reaction to his handiwork.

The boy strode to the portal, Navi rushing to get away from the spiders corpse. They rose, travelling through the blue column of light until they were set back down, standing in front of the Deku Tree.

"You owe me tree." He glared at the Great Deku Tree, "Give me something valuable for my deed. You owe me that for dragging me into your affairs."

Doubts flickered through the Deku Tree's mind, was this indeed the right child? Had he made a mistake? Regardless he decided he must continue this child was not the hope of Hyrule.

The spiritual stone of the forest glided down to the boy, he snatched it out of the air, admiring the shine on it for a second, wondering how much he could sell it for.

He then turned, starting to walk away. However much fun it was killing a giant spider in a gruesome manner, he hated the stink that always lingered after the kill, he needed a bath.

"You must visit Princess Zelda."

'A princess?' The boy's mind raced, 'This is a tacky trinket, and it shines so a stupid royal girl will pay more rupees than I've ever seen for it! It doesn't matter if this is worthless, royals are dumb and fickle, it looks vaguely pretty, to their standards anyway, if it were blood red it might be to my appeal, but not this tranquil green crap.'

He began walking away, an annoying fairy in tow, ignoring the Deku Tree as it died behind him.

He had set up camp in the middle of Hyrule Field, a small campfire alight in front of him. He pulled out the hunk of leg and a small dagger, making preparations to cook the unusual meat.

Navi was flying around him, she claimed it was to keep watch for anything which may approach and attack him, but in reality, she couldn't bare to watch him devoir the chunk of spider leg.

The camp was in a vulnerable position, surrounded by empty grasslands. But this was how he liked to spend his nights. He wanted to be attacked. He wanted more fights, more bloodshed, more gore, it was what he thrived on, what he lived for.

So as the fairy flew around him, he tucked into his meal of fresh meat. He enjoyed it far more than he would have ever expected. This was a proper hunk of meat, nothing like the raw herbs or pathetic vegetables he was used to eating. It was full of flavour and very filling.

He tore a strip from the beat. Suddenly, a noise distracted him from his meal. He set down the remaining meat and drew his sword, creeping to the edge of the firelight.

He saw the silhouette of a running figure, as it approached the details of this person became clear to him. The man was skinny, wearing running shorts and a t-shirt, but the most ridiculous of garments was his Bunny Hood, which looked exceedingly strange on a grown man.

The boy skulked towards the man, bent low, his dark clothes blending in with the shadows of the field perfectly. He raised his sword, ready to slash at the unsuspecting neck of his victim.

"Link!" Navi's loud voice sounded, shocking the boy into absolute stillness. The fairy approached him, illuminating his figure. The man whipped around at the sound of her voice, staring wide-eyed at the frozen boy, brandishing his glinting sword.

He leapt to his feet and sprinted off into the distance. The boy snarled as his prey escaped.

"Link? What are you doing?" She floated in front of his face.

"Nothing. And my name is not Link!" He glared at her.

Her verbal explosion ceased, her shock setting in thick and fast. "What?" She whispered.

"Doesn't matter." He turned away, sheathing his sword and returning to his Gohma meat dinner.

The fairy was left wondering, "Oh Great Deku Tree, have I chosen the wrong boy?" She looked to the stars.

He finished his meal quickly, huddling up near his campfire deep in thought.

Years! Years he had spent in that godforsaken room! Now, oh now he was out. He only had the urge to kill, everything he'd met he had wanted to kill. He wanted to kill this fairy which hovered around and judged him at this very moment. But something held him back, some mental barrier blocking the desire to kill this little thing.

Everyone was afraid of him; this fairy seemed to fear him more than anything else. But was he bad? Was he really bad? He had been created for killing, and so he killed, was that wrong? Perhaps it was, but what else should he do if killing was taboo?

Memories flooded his mind, drowning out everything else. His face twisted as he recalled every part of his early life, he only just stopped himself from screaming out loud.

He remembered his birth, or his creation. He recalled the first face he had ever seen. An explanation circled around the memories, which he was, why he had been created, what his purpose in his warped life was.

Then, that room, the room he had spent ten years waiting in! Ten years, trapped in there… alone. With nothing but a sword, shield and an old, dead tree to practice combat skills on.

Anger rushed through his veins, like he had never experienced. Hatred beyond hatred tainted his mind and vision. Hatred for one individual coursed through his being. Nothing like the mild hate he had felt towards that boy, the boy he was based off of. Sure, that hatred had driven him to Kokiri forest, but he only wished to see the boy, maybe fight him, but he respected the legend of this boy too much to ever kill him. No, the flaming anger that ripped through his body now called for one thing, only one thing, murder!

But, the monster that created him, he could never respect. His black heart pumped the boiling anger around his body, making his hands shake and his teeth clench.

He would finish this quest! For he knew what needed to be done in the end!

Determined to finish what the Deku Tree had forced him to start, he lay down, staring at the dying fire. Tomorrow, tomorrow was when his quest truly began, he would go and see this princess and find out what needed to be done to end it all.

A/N: After reading through the first chapter of this I found the grammar and spelling rather horrendous, so I spent my day retyping it, editing it so that it once again made sense. I hate how you can no longer copy and past the stories, I understand the concept of this but it makes it hard for me to regain my stories once they've long passed the 90 day limit to documents on FanFiction. But it's here now! I should be doing this with the next chapter and continuing the story soon, same with the other Zelda story and the others up here.

Thanks for reading!
