Another valentines day was upon Konoha. The atmosphere was happy, excited, as always on this day. People waiting to see if they got any sort of presents on this day, flowers, candies, a kiss.
Of course, not every one was happy. Not everyone got chocolate, or roses, or a hug from someone they loved. And Hinata was that one unlucky person who knew she wasn't going to get those things. She never did.
Sure soemtimes Kiba or Shino would get her a little something, but that was as far as it ever went. Kiba and Shino, Kiba and Shino. Her two best friends...but that was all they were. Her best friends.
She felt it wasn't fair. It wasn't fair that she got stuck all alone on this...lover's day. Everyone seemed to have someone for today, unless they wern't into this sort of thing. Everyone except Hinata.
She didn't know why she was outside. Sure it was a pretty day, but she knew there was a thick rain cloud over her head. Hinata hated going outside on this day, she'd much rather be curled up under the covers, doing her best to stop her tears.
But no, she had to be out here, sitting on a bench and looking all too pathetic, lonliness clear in her eyes, a box of chocolate probably meting in her pocket. She watched all the happy couples go bye, some people she didn't even know were well...like that, but it was apparent on her face. She kept her light gaze on the people, looking for that one guy, that familar head of blonde hair. She just wanted to see he was happy on this day, he deserved it. He was nowhere to be seen.
Hinata let out a quiet sigh and looked up into the branches of the tree that was settled behind the bench. She didn't even notice someone was approaching, more like didn't care. She knew they'd walk right by her without a second though.
"Hinata-chan."
The sudden sound of her name made her jump. Her eyes snapped open and landed on the culprit, a thick blush instantly covering her cheeks.
"N-naruto-kun, what are you doing here?" she asked softly, 'More like why are you talking to me?' she corrected herself silently.
"Ah well I just...I uhhh....here you go." he said with that ever so pleasant smile as he held out his hand. And there it was a small, heart shaped box adorned with a red ribbon. Hinata looked from the chocolate, to Naruto, repeated a process a couple of time, then finally regained her ability to speak.
"R-really?" she asked,s till in shock. Naruto only grinned and nodded.
"Yeah! You, you want them right? 'Cause if not I'm sure I can give them to...someone else." he said, though clearly he didn't want to. Hinata couldn't help but chuckle.
"No, no I want them. I'm just...I've never gotten anything like this before..." she admitted quietly as she pulled the small box out of her pocket.
Naruto's grin widened as they exchanged boxes and he sat down next to the girl. "Well, go on, open it." he urged, and even if she had planned on saving it she gingerly undid the red bow, and pulled the lid off. Inside was a folded piece of paper, and confusion flashed in her eyes. She unfolded the paper and her blush returned as she read it.
"Of course I'll be your valentine Naruto-kun." she whispered, looking over at him.
"I'm happy Hinata-chan." he said and before she had time to say anything else the blonde palced of a soft kiss on her lips.
Maybe Valentines day wasn't so bad after all.
