You love him, and he's beautiful.
You know he loves you too. He'd do anything for you. But you also know that he wouldn't do that only because you're you, but because you're also Bella's sister. But you're okay with that.
You've fallen in love before. You've gone head over heels for that Ravenclaw Prefect, you've spent evenings with handsome men, one by one.
But Lucius, he was there before and through all that. You remember the summers, how he used to spend time at your house to play with Bella. You remember being thirteen, and he knocked on the door when he was sixteen, all bloody and bruised and broken, and asking for your older sister.
He was nice, Lucius was. Unlike Severus, who was so sarcastic and mean. But you hung around with Severus more, because, well, Lucius was Bella's; and they were older, and you couldn't connect.
But when you were fifteen, Lucius said, "Narcissa, when we're older, we should get married."
And you said, "Okay."
And you both were married.
You love him in a weird way. More than a friend, but never, ever a lover. He's just there, and you love him because he loves you, because he began to love you when he was little because he had too, 'cause you're Bella's little sister.
He's a quiet, sad man, but he's a killer, too. You still love him, though, despite the atrocities. You help get the blood out of his hair, and you touch his face. And he holds you until the sun rises.
Once, he said to you, "Narcissa, you can leave, if you want."
But you said to him, "I'm not going anywhere."
Because you've been in love, and it's a good feeling, but it was so short and broken. You just love Lucius, and you trust him, and he trusts you; no suspicion, paranoia. He'll take care of you, and your son. He'll give you whatever you want, do anything to make you happy. Even though Lucius himself barely is, except when he's looking at you, or teaching your son how to horseback ride or something.
You want to die before him, because you don't think you can go on without his presence. He can go without you, though, because he grew like that. But you, no, you need him there, because Lucius has always been sad. If you die, he'll still be sad. If he dies, you'll be sad, and that wouldn't be right.
"You deserve to be happy, Narcissa," he says to you. "You are to good to be sad."
And he says good in the way that he knows his own cause, his own morals, are good, but you are better than good. And you believe him, because Lucius, he'd never lie to you.
You remember when you were younger, and you had been in love so many, many times.
But your soul mate… your soul mate had been there all along.
